CARE FUND UPDATE: Jack Sparrow - Now Adoptable!

Jack Sparrow is now available for adoption! Come in to meet this cute kitten! He is a six month old long hair brown tabby. He was found as a stray in need of veterinary care for his eye. After an evaluation, it was determined that he would need an enucleation, or removal of his eye. He recovered from his surgery with us here at Miss Winkles and has become quite the cuddly kitty! He can be kind of shy at first, and will sometimes hide under things, but just keep trying to pet him and he will come around. Once you start petting him, he just wants all the love! Meet Dixie! She is a 3 year old German Shepherd who is very shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she's super sweet! She loves swimming and running in the yard, but she's also content with trying to curl up in your lap (she doesn't realize how big she is!) for a nap. She can be nervous of young kids. With a slow introduction to other dogs, she can play well with other big dogs. She is crate trained, walks well on a leash and knows some basic commands. Come in to Miss Winkles today to meet her! Meet Reginald!

It's almost Christmas, but Santa Claus had a little bit of time to visit us and help us show off this awesome pup! Meet Reginald, also lovingly known as Reggie! Reggie is a 6 year old Siberian Husky / Shepherd mix who is a very kind dog, with such good behavior. At first glance, he can look a little intimidating, with his large size, thick fur coat and two different colored eyes, but he's a very gentle boy. He gets along very well with other dogs, and we often will put him into playgroups with new dogs to help get them used to other dogs here at Miss Winkles! 10 Year Anniversary - David McDonald

As we reflect on and celebrate the last 10 years of finding pets homes, we want to take a moment to recognize the late David McDonald for making the Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center what it is today. It was because of his generous donation that we were able to build our beautiful facility. We are named Miss Winkles in memory of McDonald's beloved West Highland Terrier, who died of a snakebite in 2008, at just three years old. Her memory and her name now live on at this very special place. We are so grateful for the support David McDonald provided and we can't wait to see what the future holds for us!

Miss Winkles 10 Year Anniversary

We are so excited to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary with all of you - our wonderful community who has made it possible for us to help over 9,000 pets find their families! Ten years ago, we set out to build a pet adoption center that would give homeless pets a second chance, and every day we live out that mission. In 2013, Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center opened its doors as the City of Clovis’ non-profit animal adoption facility. But this wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of the late David McDonald, local businessman and philanthropist, who helped the adoption center become what it is today. In honor of his generous donation, the adoption center was named Miss Winkles, in memory of McDonald’s beloved West Highland Terrier who died much too soon of a snake bite in 2008. Miss Winkles’ memory and her name now live on at this very special place. We are so grateful to our many volunteers who help care for our pets, to our donors who generously give their support, our adopters who give our pets happy homes, and to the members of our community who keep us going strong. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!

2023 Halloween Fun: Alan the Crocodile

*UPDATE: Adopted!* Crikey! We found a big ol' crocodile at Miss Winkles! Alan made the perfect crocodile for our Halloween photos! He's a cool pup who took his acting job seriously for this video, getting all wiggly like a croc would be! Alan is a mellow old boy who enjoys playing in the yard and taking in the new smells like our pumpkin patch! He enjoys being around other dogs, although he prefers to be around calmer dogs like him. CARE FUND FEATURE: Sheldon "Swimmer Kitty"

Because of your donations to the Clovis Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) fund, this sweet boy got the care he needed to live a healthy life. *UPDATE: Adopted!* Meet Sheldon! He has a condition called "swimmer syndrome," a very rare congenital disorder that prevents a kitten from standing properly due to their rear limbs having weak muscles. They usually stand in a frog-like posture, with the hips jutting out to the side of the body. We caught the disorder early, so he was able to go through physical therapy and has significant improvement in his posture! Despite his disorder, he's a playful kitten who enjoys his toy ball and tackling his littermate!
