We are deeply saddened by the recent tragic loss of horses due to contaminated feed produced by yet another feed manufacturer. While this is an incredibly unfortunate set of events, we are excited about the attention it has drawn to our platform of using natural additives rather than medications in animal feed. At Tucker Milling, the safety of animals has always been our top priority.
Due to multiple incidents involving other manufacturers and to remove all doubt about our feed, we made the proactive decision to completely remove monensin from our facility over 5 years ago. We extended this to all ionophore drugs 2 years ago. For years, we've been at the forefront of innovation, pioneering the use of natural botanical products to promote animal health instead of relying on drugs.
We carefully hand-pick specific plant-based ingredients from a select group of trusted vendors to consistently provide the excellent results that you’re used to seeing in your equestrian athletes. With the understanding that equines are highly sensitive to any toxicity or adulteration of their feed, we take a horse-first approach and use these same ingredients to promote the health of all other species.
