If you haven't heard, Dr. Fernyak is retiring. She may pop in here and there this summer, but she has passed the torch to Dr. DeWitt now. Here is a statement from Dr. Fernyak:

Welcome Dr. Clasen to Bear Creek Veterinary Care!

Dr. Clasen has enjoyed working with animals of all kinds since starting her veterinary career in 2020. When living in Austin, Texas, Dr. Clasen worked in both large animal ambulatory, exotics as well as small animal medicine. Dr. Clasen considers preventative and chronic disease care to be her favorite forms of medicine, especially considering all that Dr. Clasen does to live a healthy life with Chrohn’s disease herself. Dr. Clasen believes health and wellness should be a holistic experience for our pets, and because of this, she is working to achieve her Master’s in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. With this Degree, Dr. Clasen hopes to be able to prescribe holistic therapies, including diet, herbal medicine, acupuncture, and massage therapy. Although Dr. Clasen’s holistic medicine journey is at its beginning, she is very excited and hopeful to learn along the way to be able to provide a more natural experience of healing for our pets. On her days off, she is visiting dog-friendly coffee shops to study Chinese medicine, and her pup, Reggie, loves a good time at Pub Dog!

Cats and dogs are predators. This year, why not get them a gift that allows them to use their hunting skills? Allowing our pets to display behaviors they would do naturally, but in a healthy and controlled way, is one of the best things we can do for them!

For cats, we recommend the Doc & Phoebe no bowl feeders. These are great to hide dry food or treats in and hide around the house. Your cat then gets to "hunt it down" and do their thing.

For dogs, flirt poles can be a great way to engage their predatory instincts. Read up on how to use a flirt pole first to see if it is right for you and your dog.
