Too hot to take a walk? Too crazy to rest indoors? Try a walk through your local hardware or outdoor store! Many Home Depot, Lowes, Bass Pro Shops allow well behaved dog visitors. Call ahead to make sure, but this could be your opportunity for a cool, comfy walk.

In this very hot weather we're having in St. Louis, remember to:
1. take water for your dogs and yourself
2. stay in the shade and on the grass, (NO hot asphalt or pavement for those tender dog toes!)
3. Never leave your dogs in the hot car, even for "just a minute". If you must go in somewhere they can't, take two keys, lock them in with the car running and air on.

Halloween is hard for our pets! Strangers at the door, scary costumes, decorations, sounds. Candy, especially chocolate and anything with xylitol can kill them. Let's make sure they're safely ensconced in a back bedroom with something fun to chew or play with, so no one is traumatized or escapes out the open door!

remember to keep pets indoors and safe during this weekend's festivities. Many dogs and most cats are afraid of fireworks. Shelters report more list pets over the Fourth every year than any other time. Keep 'em home, if they need soothing music, soundproof space, and maybe a little xanax from the vet, do that, too. Enjoy the holiday!

Happy Halloween! Keep your pets safe and comfortable inside the house, it can be very scary for them to be faced with lots of ghouls and ghosts, knocks at the door, and loud voices. It's also easy and dangerous for them to escape. Maybe a delicious chew or puzzle toy. There are puzzle toys for kitty cats, too!
