🚨Rare Opportunity from TGSK9T🚨

I have a 3 year old intact Black GSD female looking for a new 🏠. She was imported from the CZ as a puppy. She has earned her CGC, met the Idaho POST standards for Narcotics Odor Detection and has been in training to certify with a national organization in Tracking/Trailing. She is a carrier for DM, but not affected.

Overall she is very friendly with people. She is confident and sound in a variety of environments. Food and toy motivated with high prey drive. She is a natural tracker with the genetics to back it up.

This is a working dog that needs a home that has experience with the breed. I would not recommend a home with very small children, cats, or small dogs. She would do best in a home as only dog or with 1 or 2 males (altered). She does not do well living with other female dogs.

She is house trained, crate trained, travels excellent. She can be loud in a crate if visually stimulated.

I love this girl, but she is not happy in our large pack, which has mostly females. I will be very selective about where she goes. PM with questions. If I don't respond within 24 hours, please check back.

📣 We still have some working spots available 📢

I will be sending out emails today with all of the details for our upcoming Dog Reactivity Workshop being held in Cottonwood, Idaho on Saturday, August 10, 2024 from 7am - 12pm PST. There are working and auditor spots still available. Message me to sign up

It looks like I will plan a Dog Reactivity Workshop for Saturday, August 10, 2024 7am-12pm to beat the high temperatures. It will be held in Cottonwood, Idaho. There will be 8 working spots (handler and their dog). The cost is $150 each. We welcome and encourage auditors (those that come to watch and learn). The cost is $50/each. Every dog attending will have to be pre-approved. This is not suitable for dogs with human aggression/bite history. If you have a dog in that category, I would highly recommend auditing this workshop. Email [email protected] or message me to sign up.

Have we mentioned lately how incredible our volunteers are? In between their normal jobs and family time, they’re out in the field (in this awful heat) helping animals in our community. A few examples include:

📌 working with homeless pet owners in Lewiston/Clarkston to help their pets stay cool.

📌 going out to rescue wildlife and birds

📌 delivering pet food

📌 helping the animals on the reservation stay cool

📌 transporting animals to WSU, vet appointments, and Palouse Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation

📌 helping with lost/found animals and scanning for microchips

📌 setting up food/water stations in areas where pets and wildlife frequent

… and much more! This heat is no joke and they’re out there in the midst of it. We truly owe them all so much gratitude 🙏

This is an incredibly sweet and large boy. He continues to improve his manners, both on and off leash, with training. He would be a wonderful companion in a quieter home with room to roam in a fenced yard or on acreage.

**Timber aka Spartacus is still seeking his furever home**

Let us re-introduce you to Timber (aka Spartacus). You see, Timber is his real name and we have known that from the beginning. But with the legal stuff in play we didn’t want to reveal too much. He responds extremely well to his real name.

Timber is now ready for adoption. He’s met Amity with The Good Shepherd K9 Training and he’s also had the very best foster.

From Timber: “It was ruff for a while there, yikes! However, now I'm with a foster mom that always calls me a GOOD boyyy and says I'm SO cuuuute (oh jeeze, this is embarrassing)! I get all these yummy treats and some bowl that I have to lick a lot-somehow she makes the food cold and stuck there! Really, it's ok though because I enjoy the licking.

On walks my foster mom goes crazy over me, I make her hand out them treats! I don't always get to go smell and chase what I want, but I get treats instead. I am getting more used to that dang leash thing (now I understand the meaning of ball-and-chain). And I do have to brag about how I've improved on my threshold training and controlling my impulses, instead of just taking what I want. On our walks now she'll just stop and we'll stand or sit for a bit, I'm thinking- "come on, let's goooo Ive got things to smell!" Although, I must admit sometimes it is nice to catch a smell or pause to look around.

In my down time I love to lay on my bed, listen to the neighborhood and smell the breeze. When I get my own yard that I don't have to share with these obnoxious animals that moo all time, I'll be so happy to run and entertain!

How do you work these hashtag things? ”

At this time, he has not yet been tested with children. Because of the trauma from his past owner and the gunshots, we feel it’s best he goes to a home without children. The sudden unpredictable movements and some loud noises do bother him at times.

Timber is believed to be a mastiff/lab mix.

Here are some ideas for keeping your dogs cool during hot temperatures. Many of these items can be found locally at Grocery Outlet and Erb's Ace Hardware. Don’t forget, Green Machine Ice Cream Truck 🛻 has doggie ice cream cups too!

🧊 Prioritize Hydration - keep fresh, clean water available to them. Keep those bowls clean!

🧊 Cold Treats - ice cubes made of broth or yogurt with treats or frozen fruit inside are a great place to start.

🧊 Pools and Splash Pads - some of our rescue dogs enjoy chasing frozen peas and toys in the pool.

🧊 Misters or Misting Hoses - not only do dogs enjoy them, but so do poultry and wild birds. Sprinklers are fun too!

🧊 Cooling Pads or Mats - these are especially nice for those bigger breeds. Cool, damp towels work well too.

🧊 Cooler Times - go for walks when temperatures are cooler. Check pavement temperatures first! Limit outdoor playtime to these times as well.

🧊 Fans - like us humans, dogs (and a few squirrels) have enjoyed having fans available.

🧊 Tree Shade and Tarps - Tree shade and tarps are ideal because they don't obstruct air flow. A doghouse does not provide relief from heat. In fact, it makes it worse.

🧊 Staying Home - Keep your dogs at home. Having them in the back of trucks isn’t cool either. Just keep them out of vehicles all together when temps are hot.
