I would like to introduce myself and also my new face book page. ( I am discontinuing my previous face book page). My name is Kathy and my kennel has been open and serving the community and far beyond for 26 years. I always wanted a kennel where dogs and cats would be loved and cared for and played with while they are away from their humans. I had it built in 1997 and had a fantastic open house fo

r all to see and enjoy food, beverages and prizes. I had my friend who was a K9 officer come in and put on drug searches and tracking demonstrations with Bess and Dandy. The K9 team put on some awesome bite work demos too. Everyone had so much fun and the kennel became totally booked that day for over a few months straight and it has continued from there. I have many years of experience with cats and dogs. I worked at a veterinary hospital for years and ran the front office and did just about everything since we did not have a full time Vet Tech on staff. Through the years I have love and shown my dogs which consisted of mainly German Shepherd Dogs, Siberian Huskies, Collies, Irish Setters, Dobermans, Dalmatians, Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Saint Bernards, a Pomeranian and a Icelandic Sheepdog to name a few. I have trained and showed dogs, bred and showed my own Siberian Huskies, owned and ran a animal rescue, I have been a puppy raiser for Leader Dogs for the Blind since 1993 where I receive a 7 week old puppy ( mainly German Shepherd Dog puppies) and raise and train until approximately one year before returning the little sweetie back for the puppy's formal training to become a guide dog. I am also a puppy raiser for a accelerant/bomb detection facility where I receive a 8 week old puppy to raise and train for approximately 9 months before I returning the puppy for more intense training at the facility to become a bomb dog. I also own two Thoroughbred race horses that literally race on the tracks. One of my horses is in California and the other is in Lexington, Kentucky and at a well known horse farm. This one won the Kentucky Derby, Horse of the Year Award, the Secretariat Vox Populi Award, two Eclipse Awards to mention a few! I provide short term all the way up to over very long term boarding and I would love to care for your special pet/pets. The dogs at the kennel get outside to play and relieve themselves 10-15 times per day and into the night hours. They receive free nightly massages before bedtime with a snack in bed too. Music is always playing and night lights are on for their comfort. The kennel has central air throughout along with natural gas heat. Please call the kennel at 810-679-0222 for more information regarding the boarding proto call. All vaccines must be current and given well in advance to protect every pet in the facility.

I always loved this story about Room 8.❀️🐈

β€œRoom 8” ( 1947–1968 )
Room 8 was a neighborhood cat who wandered into a classroom in 1952 at Elysian Heights Elementary School in Echo Park, California. He lived in the school during the school year and then disappeared for the summer, returning when classes started again. This pattern continued without interruption until the mid-1960s.

News cameras would arrive at the school at the beginning of the year waiting for the cat's return; he became famous and would receive up to 100 letters a day addressed to him at the school. Eventually, he was featured in a documentary called Big Cat, Little Cat and a children's book, A Cat Called Room 8. Look magazine ran a three-page Room 8 feature by photographer Richard Hewett in November 1962, titled "Room 8: The School Cat". Leo Kottke wrote an instrumental called "Room 8" that was included in his 1971 album, Mudlark.

As he got older, Room 8 was injured in a cat fight and suffered from feline pneumonia, so a family near the school volunteered to take him in. The school's janitor would find him at the end of the school day and carry him across the street.

His obituary in the Los Angeles Times rivaled that of major political figures, running three columns with a photograph. The cat was so famous that his obituary ran in papers as far away as Hartford, Connecticut. The students raised the funds for his gravestone. He is buried at the Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park in Calabasas, California.
