Allow me to reintroduce... Ruby, our red rat snake aka Pantherophis guttatus.
Ruby is a natural species found here in Florida. We actually have quite a few of these residential rat snakes living on our farm and they are a huge asset. Not only do they prevent vermin from breeding and taking over our feed areas, but they also add an educational aspect to our farm about the lush eco-system we live in! It's important to have these reptiles in place to prevent disease and manage vermin control. Ruby here is our pet and was rehomed to us several months ago. She is now a year and a 1/2 old. She will get much larger and much thicker. She has recently graduated from small pinkies to larger hopper mice. We anticipate her growth to really take off in the next six to twelve months!

Introducing Jekyll the Rabbit! He is one of our first Rescues!
Hes a Rex/harlequin rabbit about 8-10 years old and arrived here for shelter from Hurricane Ian over a year ago!
When Jekyll got here with his brother Hyde, they unfortunately had seborrheic mange like most rescue rabbits we come across! But with an aggressive ivermectin treatment from our awesome vet at Three oaks veterinarian and lots of love Jekyll is 100% better and even a ton more socialized than before! Sadly Hyde had been infected and untreated way to long and didn't survive the aggressive medical treatment.
Believe it or not, You couldn't even approach jekyll at first, he would stamp away so fast, he was so scared! Now he proudly marches between the bullies and cats free range and fits right in!
We dont know how much longer we will have to enjoy Jekyll, but this old man has a safe loving home here till his very last day!

Training! Socialization! Patience!

When Nova came to us a few weeks ago, she did not even know sit! Now working with Tyler daily she has come so far!
Big dogs like Nova need training, they are powerful and often times have a puppy brain with a big ol' body! A dog you cannot control is not only dangerous to its owner but to society.
Our goal is to give these dogs the tools they need to be great, SAFE companions!
Meet Rex 🐾
Previous owner was worried he would bark the whole car ride...but Rex was more worried about catching mouhtfuls of wind on his journey.
Rex is a sweet boy who is an approx 3-4 year old, altered male American Staffordshire Mix.
He sits well, doesnt jump and is very polite when taking treats. He interacts well with the other dogs and behaves submissivly.
Rex has a sweet Mama who only wishes the best for him. Recently displaced, they just didn't have the means or position to house Rex and he needed a soft place to stay while waiting on his forever family. Thats where we come in.
Rex will be vetted and available for adoption after all screenings are complete!

Quick update on Freya and Odin our Mini cows!
If you remember, Freya our Mini texas longhorn was an auction purchase by another Homesteader when only one day old-then at 5 days old, she was not doing great.
They hadn't really understood the care needed or the type of space required when raising a new born animal like this, needless to say she was not in good health. We took over, we got her on a warm calf milk replacer schedule in a safe, clean stall, meds for scours and with lots of lovings, she came around quite quickly!
Odin is our little Zebu/hereford bull who was abandoned by a farm hand at a neighboring farm-he was about a month old when we got him, he had been standing in about 4-6 inches of water the whole month he had been alive, swampiest, muckiest "pen" I'd ever seen and in the middle of rainy season at that. With some hoof care and the appropriate milk replacer he too made a quick come around!
Both are thriving and loving life on the farm 💜

Update on Nova, our Medical foster!
Nova has finished all oral meds and is awaiting her Injection dates to treat her heart worm hopefully completely. We have designated hours of the day for Nova to come out and have some soft, controlled activity time. Due to her ailment she needs to remain calm and no rough housing.
Novas absolute favorite activity is to chew up stuffies! Getting to know her sweet, gentle personality has been a real treat and we look forward to her continued healing here on the farm!
