Just an update for Next week:

We will be Closed July 4th for the Holiday.
We do not have a Doctor in the Office July 5th. We will be open 8 to 3 for medication pick ups and phone calls.

Please plan accordingly for Medication/Prescription food orders.

Incase of Emergency please call Tufts Vets or Ocean State Veterinary!

💫 Patient Spotlight 💫

Milo came in today for his annual visit and received a gold star 🌟 🌟 review from Dr. Leoni. Last year Milo was overweight weighing in at 26 pounds. His family worked very hard with him on his diet and exercise over the last year. Today he weighed in at a very healthy 18.6 pounds! 👏

Way to go Milo and Family! 🩵

With this extreme heat today and the next few days remember: 🔥

Limit exercising your pet on hot days. Adjust walking routines to be in the cooler times of the day.🐕‍🦺

Give them plenty of shade while being outside.🌳

Make sure to have plenty of clean water available. 💧

Better to leave your pets at home in the ac then running around doing errands! ✋️ Do not leave your pets in the car without the ac running!

Avoid burnt paws 🐾 When the pavement is to hot for yout bare feet it is extremely hot on our loved ones paws.

What's that another Sunny 🌞 day in Rhode Island?!! Wow

➡️Reminder as the days start to heat up:

❗️Never Never leave your pets in the car!

💧Make sure pets have clean fresh water.

🌳Shade availability outside is a plus.

🐕‍🦺We know our furry friends love walks. Sometimes it is best to move walk times to the cooler hours in the day. Watch out for hot surfaces the temperatures on asphalt is extremely hot and damaging to those paws. Place you hand down to feel.

🔥If you are hot, they are hot or hotter !

🫧Some breeds do better being shaved down. Check with your vet or Groomer if this is helpful to your breed.

🦟Remember tis the season to protect against ticks and fleas and of course heartworm. We have recently seen an uptick in Heartworm cases. Make sure your pets are prevented all year long.

A Reminder that we are now on Petdesk. You can download the app and request appointments there.

When requesting medication refills please note the medication and dose of the medication you need refilled.

As happy as we are that Tato was featured a news clip doesn't tell the whole story. It has to be shortened for TV.

The staff at Diamond Hill in the lead of Dr. Leoni reached out to Pawtucket Animal Shelter to offer free sedated grooms. We were able to do 3 on a Thursday (one was Tato) and 15 more on Saturday. In our experience at the Clinic Tato was the worst we had seen and had hands on. He took over two hours to groom. We had help from 4 other techs from other hospitals and 2 groomers. We were all volunteering out Saturday to these dogs including Dr. Snow whom recently joined Diamond Hill part time.

Part of the interview you don't see is thanking the community for coming together. We would like to thank the Friends of Pawtucket Animal Shelter, Pawtucket ACO, Cranston ACO, they are who were on scene first. Pawtucket ACOs were who we have been in contact with for all the prepping and coordinating. They have a really tough job emotionally and physically. We thank the Veterinary Field, groomers and everyone who offered time to go to the shelter or make donations.

Don't let it end here. Look in to the shelters near you. Volunteer, donate, adopt. :) Dogs like Tato will need time to open up and be dogs. In a short period of time he is making great progress and we are grateful!

Charges were announced and the owners will be in court at a later date. Hopefully this starts to set a standard that this is not to be tolerated. 👏

This was case #92. He was full of mattes, fleas, sores, and very timid. When we brought him outside he didn't want to walk around. He just looked around and quivered.

Today his name is 🥔 Tato Leoni !
Yes, you heard it here folks number 92 is now adapting to being home with Dr. Leoni. We are so proud to welcome him into the Diamond Hill Family. He is currently sleeping beside her desk warm and cozy.

Proud is an understatement!

Thursday we were able to help with 3 of the pups from the hoarding case out of Pawtucket!

Today we came together volunteering our Saturday with our staff and friends in veterinary med to take care of another...15 pups!

Thank you to Dr. Leoni for the heart behind this endeavor. Thank you to Dr. Snow for giving us his Saturday and helping along!

We are beyond thankful for everyone that came out today.
