How cool, it actually worked!
We watched a video on how to tell if a chick is a rooster or a hen by looking at their wings. I figured it would be neat to experiment to see if it was right. I had the kids all help during one of our barn lessons and put zip ties loosely around the leg of who we thought would be roosters.
Happy to report that the 2 that still had their ties on their legs, are in fact, roosters šš

Amazing time at 4H Southern Regionals!
A year ago, he didnāt even know how to attach his rope to his saddle horn, has only been doing Reining and Ranch Riding patterns for 3 months now, didnāt know how to throw his rope at all and was afraid to lope on his horse a year ago. Now he has blown away 4H State, qualified as a first time Junior for 4H Southern Regionals, competed with his state team at ARHA Worlds for the first time, came to the 4H Southern Regionals and won 7th place out of 69 kids in Ranch Trail, 10th place out of 33 for Cow Boxing which heās never been in before and finished 28th overall with 100ās of kids and still missed 3 of the classes he could have competed in.
To say I am proud, is an understatement!
Always my most favorite! I absolutely love running summer campsā¦ but now we are DONE and I can breath! Time to shift gears and plan for building the business through the school year.

Last day of advanced camp! I love running this camp and watching these kids learn.
We actually had to have a conversation about how much we have ridden this week and not had a chance to do anything but ride and eat lunch at camp šš¤·š½āāļø

My little buddy āNotoesā. I thought she was dead the day she was born. I went to grab her and throw her out of the coop but she twitched instead. I wrapped her up and could feel how cold she was through my shirt. Put the blow dryer on her for a bit and she started moving more.
Her legs turned from purple to black within the next day or two and she lost all of her toes. I wondered if Iād have to cull her or notā¦ but here she is in all of her glory

Still loving the World Equestrian Center! Man the competition is toughā¦ but it should be. This facility is amazing! Tomorrow is the parade and halter presentation and then a Grand Prix at the big jumper stadium. Today Timothy competed in Ranch Riding, but broke gate twice so he is free till Ranch Trail on Tuesday

Timothy has time to make candles ($8) and also has more honey available!! We only have 1 of the big plastic jars with comb in it for $40. But we have a bunch of 12 oz plastic squeeze bottles with no comb for $12 (bpa free, food grade bottles)
He is raising money to help with his entry fees to his horse shows since he has 3 big shows this month that he will be a part of.

Summer camp week 2 is in the books!
Day 512 of 30 days of horse fun! Iām just going to put this right here and maybe one day my teenager will believe me in exactly how freaking proud I am of him and how much I am in awe of him. Iām afraid it will probably take another 20 years for him to believe itā¦ but he will one day
Timothy is holding the Grand Champion spot in the Ranch Horse with Rolling Hills Saddle Club as of right now. He made it on a youth team to represent GA at the ARHA Worlds Competition in Ocala, FL. In the State 4H Horse Show, he finished 4th over all in Stock Seat, his first time showing as a Junior and 7th overall in Ranch Horse with completely missing all of the cow classes. That qualified him for a spot in the 4H Southern Regionals. He also has qualified for the NOHSA Worlds horse show in Coverdale, IN and the Fall Festival for NOHSA in Ocala, FL.
He has made such huge things happen this year ā„ļø
Captains logā¦ itās day 154 of no rain and temps in the 1000ās. Our pastures are crispy already and I have resorted to dumping copious amounts of water and Gatorade down my throat and over my head in order to complete camps and lessons on a daily basis. Volunteers are dropping like flies, some times literally and kids are going home dead tired and have turned a darker shade then wheat they came in with.
I see zombie movements in my near future and brain dead acts of faking it till I make it. We have 3 trips in July for some extremely big horse shows, 2 weeks of camps open and about 30 lessons a week to doā¦ but we will prevail!
