Changes are part of this new year with Animal ER of NW Houston. Unfortunately, they impact the future of Wonder Pet Rehabilitation as resources will be devoted to supporting the ER's staffing and growth as Dr Michelle Withrow is crowned as Dr Jennifer Hennessey's successor for the future of operations. Dr Hennessey will bid farewell and will be following her heart to Alaska. We appreciate all of the amazing support and the honor of working with so many incredible Wonder Pet's over the years!

📣 Animal ER, launched in 2014 by owner Dr Jennifer Hennessey, has much to celebrate going into our 10th anniversary! After 10 years of serving CyFair and our surrounding communities, throughout smooth days as well as serving others through those times of strenuous challenge which include Hurricane Harvey, the Houston freeze, the Pandemic, and more, Animal ER of Northwest Houston is stronger and better than ever.

Honoring and continuing the hospital’s award-winning legacy while maintaining our unique element of being a privately-owned veterinary emergency practice, Animal ER of Northwest Houston announces that our current Medical Director, Dr Michelle Withrow, is changing titles to Animal ER of NW Houston’s owner! 🫶🏼 More details about our 10th anniversary year updates coming soon 🫶🏼🧡💙

As extreme temperatures are anticipated this Monday, the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce emphasizes the importance for all Harris County residents to bring their pets inside.

Taskforce partners at Ted Heap, Harris County Constable Precinct 5, Houston Police Department, BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions, Houston Humane Society, and Harris County Public Health (Harris County Pets) will be on call and available to check on any pets left outside in dangerous conditions throughout this winter weather situation.

If you see a pet restrained outside without shelter for an extended period in extreme weather, please report it immediately at 832-927-PAWS or www.927PAWS.org.

What a whirlwind as sale weekend came 2 weeks early just now posting but want to thank everyone who bought furniture … “the furniture fundraiser for furbaby support” 🐾

Several beds, dressers, tables, desks, chairs, as well as fitness/gym items, patio furniture and more all found new homes which helped raise money going towards our continued ability to supply donated medical care for special community cases 🤗

As a founding partner of the Harris County Animal Cruelty Taskforce and committed to supporting the heroic efforts of the Cy-Fair Fire Department & EMS, part of the duty of Animal ER of Northwest Houston is to offer medical assistance & resources when possible for first responders and officers who have a pet victim in need of immediate stabilization & critical care 🐾

An awesome $6K was generated to put towards our animal cruelty fund & emergency community care fund at Animal ER of NW Houston from the furniture fundraiser 🤗🐾

Happy World Veterinary Day!

The veterinary profession is a profoundly rewarding pursuit. Safeguarding animals against illness means protecting those who can suffer but cannot speak. Veterinarians are called upon to ensure these animals have a voice and an advocate who ensures their welfare is a priority.

Veterinarians are aware though that this burden can be physically and mentally taxing. Stress, burnout and other health issues have risen in recent years, particularly during the pandemic.

Veterinarians, much like their patients, need proper tools and support to maintain their personal health and wellness. Healthy animals require healthy advocates. Resilient veterinarians are better equipped to handle the daily challenges and crises that may occur in their practices.

Resilience cannot be facilitate solely by individual veterinarians though. It requires appropriate support by associations, institutions and governments to ensure adequate education, training, mentorship, and collegiality. It also requires ongoing research to better understand the mental and physical burdens veterinarians face and the opportunities to provide greater support.

The 2022 World Veterinary Day will celebrate efforts from veterinarians, veterinary associations and others to strengthen veterinary resilience and bring attention to this important cause
