Hello everyone!

I’ve been getting a lot of messages about adopting and I’m late in updating, but I’d like to inform everyone that am no longer breeding rats. It has been my favorite hobby for a long time and I’ve met some wonderful rat people!

I will be keeping this page and the email up for awhile, but not permanently. I will announce before I shut them down as well. As always, feel free to message me with any questions or concerns - I can always give rat advice but please note I will no longer be responding to inquiries about new adoptions.

My Instagram will stay up, as I am keeping a few females that are not adoptable and I will share their cute photos there!

AVAILABLE - one and a half year old mink silvermane dumbo neutered male.

He needs to go to a home with at least one FEMALE rat, preferably with an experienced owner who knows how to introduce adult rats together. He is curious and outgoing with people but he does get pushy with other rats and does not get along with males at all.

The ideal home for him would be with a calm girl or group of girls around his age.

3 adult males! Lance (2nd photo) and Lenny (3rd photo) were mentioned in a previous post, and they are still available. Both are incredibly sweet. Lenny will literally fall asleep in your lap, and Lance is a mellow lazy bones as well. I’m adding Cappy (1st photo) to the group now, because he keeps the other boys on their toes! He loves to wrestle and gives the best kisses ever!

Hello all! I hope everyone has enjoyed their holiday. I know it’s been a while but I wanted to let you all know that I’m still here! There have been lots of happenings over the last couple of months that I would like to speak on.

First off, The Fancy Rats’ Nest has moved! We are now further south, down off of the 405 in Irvine. Our new meeting place is Dave Robins Park - you will see this and other updates (including photos and pricing) on the newly refurbished site!

Secondly: there has been a lot of new information and protocol for health testing in the rat breeder community. My breeding stock has been and will now be tested annually for Streptobacillus moniliformis, aka Rat Bite Fever (RBF). RBF was detected in two individual rats from my rattery, but neither have been bred before and will be removed from my program. All others tested negative.
For more information on RBF or proof of results from my rattery, please feel free to message me!

Lastly, I am still working on some newer lines and may not have babies available for adoption (even if I post pictures). Any availability (or lack thereof) will be clearly indicated on my posts. What I WILL have is adult rats! I am downsizing to focus on more specific projects, so some rats that I planned to keep for breeding just don’t fit in to my goals anymore and will be available to pet homes. Keep your eyes peeled for photos!

Meet Chappie! He is a beige berkshire dumbo, a little over a year old. Sadly his cagemate passed away and he needs a new buddy or two. He is sweet, gentle, loves being pet and getting scratches behind the ears. His life goals are to eat snacks and chill. The ideal home for him would be one with young males so that they can be easily introduced together.

All of these guys are floppy, squishy ragdolls ❤️ I would prefer for them to go together as a trio. Adult males are also GREAT for kids because they’re easy to handle, not squirmy, and good and hefty!

Any interest in adult rats?

I will be dropping some projects and doing some downsizing in anticipation of the move, so over the coming weeks there will definitely be some retired breeders and other rats (over 6 months) available.

ANNOUNCEMENT: As you’ve probably seen, applications are currently closed. I haven’t had enough females in my litters recently to breed and keep adoptable lines going, so it will most likely be closer to the end of the year before I have any litters available to the public.

During this time, and with COVID restrictions winding down, I will be tweaking my adoption process yet again. More information to come on this (closer to when babies will be available.)

And finally - we are moving! Location is still tbd, but it will still be Orange County. Stay tuned for this big update!
