Playing Red Rover with Tuesday Dayschool!
We like to interrupt play time with brain games. Today we had the dogs practice down durations in the shade, and I recalled them by their name one at a time to cross the yard and lay in the shade by me there!
This is a great game for multi-dog households and even to mix in when your pup is playing with their friends!
How do you think your pup would have done?

E-collars have so many cool functions! One of your favorite functions is the Tone button!
We like to pair this BEEEP sound at the beginning of our recalls to help grab your pup’s attention and allow them to hear our recall words that follow! Eventually even the sound of the BEEEP can start activating them to return to you
This can very especially beneficial at large distances, your pup may not hear you when your voice is far away but they’ll always be able to hear the Tone from the Ecollar box they are wearing and know they need to return to you. Additionally it can help when around big distractions or loud noises to make chances of hearing your recall even better
Does your dog use the Tone with their Recalls?

Tuesdays are nail trim days for the whole family!
I like to trim/grind my dogs nails every week to keep them short and not touching the ground when they walk!
We had a great turnout for our WAHCA Pack walk today! Thank you to everyone who showed up, there were multiple dogs joining for the first time and everyone did amazing!
We have a few exciting pack walks planned soon, so keep your eyes out for announcements!

Playing with your dog should be a vital part of your every day life!
Not only is it fun, but it is a great release of energy and a calorie burner, builds impulse control, and a better relationship between you!
I prefer toys that I can play WITH the dog such as a ball on string, a tug toy, a rope toy, a stuffed toy, or these giant balls that can also be gripped! When you can tug with the toy instead of always making them drop and then throwing it, it can become more personal and fun! When Bosa drops the toy, it equals more fun and the game continues with tug when he brings it back sometimes. Me reaching for the ball does not always mean I’m taking it away, sometimes I’ll smack the ball a bit which Bosa really enjoyed in our play today!
Practice with different toys and different play styles! Some dogs like to chase, some like to be chased, some like more tug, some like to chase a flirt pole! Always remember to keep special toys put away so that those can be you and your dog’s favorite toys only for play time!
Moe and Buffy are playing leap frog 🐸
I love practicing this game with multi-dog households or with my training dogs!
It helps teach them their own name! Instead of recalling whenever the other dog’s name is said they have to focus and wait till they hear their own specific name!
Just because the other dog starts moving past them doesn’t mean they get to join! It can be very exciting to have another dog run by but they have to practice impulse control and stay until their own turn
I first started practicing with them on place beds or in a down when playing leap frog, as these are typically easier to “stay” in compared to a sit! I find that place is a very clear boundary and we always start leap frog with these! Next we practice with downs, then sits! You can also make this easier by having them more spread apart to the side, the closer they have to pass each other the more difficult it is!
Have you played this game with your dog before?
