Happy Gotcha Day Mama Dog! How time flies!!! I cannot believe we have had my sweet Mama Dog for 7 years! I never thought I would ever have a pittie. God blessed us when I rescued this poor girl from Whitfield County Pound with mastitis and so skinny. But I found my spirit dog in her. I love her to the moon and back!!!

I am half way back to work. These past two nights have been so relaxing with this sweetie. I love this boy like he is my own. Very first pup I started my petsitting with. I know I have been MIA but not without good reason. Had a small slip that turned into having to have screws and a plate put in my ankle. A few more weeks and I’ll be back on my feet. I am so grateful for all of my clients and friends who have understanding during this time. I appreciate you all do much. I hope each and everyone has a Dog Gone Merry Christmas !!!! Here is more info on this mysterious illness that started this summer and is going strong through the fall. We are available to help you with drop in visits or overnight stays at your home. Please contact us if we can help.

A fatal mystery illness in dogs is spreading in the US. The illness starts out as a cough that can last for several weeks, but it may not respond to typical treatment, such as antibiotics, which can leave the dog struggling to breathe and with severe pneumonia.

Cases have been reported in Oregon, Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Washington, Idaho, California, the Northeast and more.

What can you do?

Experts say to avoid putting your dog in contact with other dogs and make sure your dog and dogs in your friend group are vaccinated. It’s hard during the holidays, but it’s also prudent to have someone come to your house to pet sit instead of a traditional boarding facility while the community battles this illness.

In states like Colorado, where there have been a number of reported cases, vets say the mysterious illness started in the summer and has been going strong through the fall.

There is potential outbreak of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) that is occurring across the country. There have been reports of cases in the Chattanooga area.

At this time, we are recommending that you try your best to avoid situations in which dogs are in close contact (grooming, boarding, dog park, etc.). CIRDC is very contagious and passes easily from dog to dog. If your dog must be in contact with other dogs, ensure they are up to date on Bordetella, Parainfluenza, +/- Canine Influenza vaccinations.

If your dog begins showing symptoms of CIRDC (coughing, nasal/eye discharge, lethargy, decreased appetite, etc.), isolate them from other dogs and contact us for an appointment.
