Cody and Cooper finally made it home to their little barn after riding out the Hurricane here at Plimsoll Downs. We are glad they are safe and happy!

𝗘𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝗱𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗱 🐴

Dat is eigenlijk waar we wat mij betreft allemaal naar zouden moeten streven. Onze paarden in balans leren trainen, altijd zoeken naar de mate van balans en de lichaamshouding(en) die passend zijn bij het paard (leeftijd, bouw, niveau, gezondheid, mentale capaciteit etc).

Op onderstaande foto zie je Moortje, een super knappe merrie die al jaren door haar eigenaresse getraind wordt middels de 4DimensionDressage methode. Moortje kan inmiddels haar balans goed vinden, zowel onder het zadel als aan de hand, aan de longe en ook tijdens het loswerken. Ik wil aan de hand van deze foto graag weer een aantal punten toelichten:

𝗥𝗼𝗼𝗱 - de neus is voor de loodlijn, de lippen/neus/oren/ogen zijn ontspannen.

𝗣𝗮𝗮𝗿𝘀 - de afstand van kin tot borst is mooi groot, de kaak is ontspannen, er staat geen verhoogde druk op de halswervels en het paard kan vrij ademen en slikken.

𝗚𝗲𝗲𝗹 - ze verdeelt haar gewicht 50/50 over de voorbenen en achterbenen, dit noemen we ook wel horizontale balans. Paarden dragen van nature 60% van hun gewicht op de voorhand en 40% op de achterhand, door ze te trainen kunnen we ze leren dit gewicht anders te verdelen. 50/50 is horizontale balans en komt het gewicht verder naar de achterhand dan noemen we dit verzameling.

𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗷𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗷𝗹 - de bovenlijn is mooi lang, de sc**ft wordt gelift en de buikspieren worden aangespannen, dit is correct ruggebruik.

𝗟𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘄 - deze lijn is het middelpunt van het paard, waar dus het zwaartepunt ligt. Je ziet als je deze lijn naar beneden volgt dat het achterbeen voorbij deze lijn komt. Het been wordt dus goed onder de massa geplaatst en als je goed kijkt zie je ook dat het achterbeen een fractie eerder zal landen dan het voorbeen.

𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗻 - het voorbeen en achterbeen zijn beiden even actief, ook dit is weer een teken van balans en gezonde beweging.

𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘄 - de luchtfiguren van de benen zijn ook allemaal te verdelen in (zo goed als) gelijke driehoeken, ook hier zie je de balans in terug.

Het paard op deze foto loopt in een correcte voorwaarts neerwaartse tendens. Dit is een gezonde manier van bewegen en de basis voor elke vorm van gezonde paardensport. Vanuit deze balans/positie kun je het paard eventueel verder leren te verzamelen, maar of je nu dressuur rijdt, springt, eventing rijdt of ment, een correcte basis is voor ieder paard van belang.

Congratulations to Bri and Klondike 1st place in Into B and Intro C. Taking Grand and only 3 points shy of High Point Score with 2 classes compared to everyone's 3. Great job!! And yes Klondike deserves the nap he so obviously needs. LOL

Hi! I'm the new boy at Plimsoll Downs! I'm 11 YO, 17.1 hands strong, and just plain gorgeous. My name is Cooper, and I am going to teach youngsters and adults how to ride English and Western Pleasure. Stay tuned for more photos of me and that rascal, Artie (aka R.T. Sage). Did I forget to mention that I'm a Belgian Draft cross? Big feet! Big heart! Love my new home!!

Welcome Song Sung Blu to Plimsoll Downs! She is a 7 YO Morgan Quarter Horse cross, full of mischief, charm, and fun! She is one of our school horses and enjoys teaching little ones how to ride!
