It was puppy central at the hospital today! In addition to our regular daily puppy time with Alyssa's Tunie and Sarah's Alpie, we had a vaccine booster visit with our friend 16 week old Pittie mix Walter. And we also got to meet these two new babies! Sarah is holding 8 week old English Bulldog Jazzy. And the other cutie is 16 week old Pitbull Mya. Couldn't you just squish those little faces?! And we sure did! 🥰

This beauty is Talia! She is a 6 year old Mastiff and she came to see Dr C for her annual exam. She’s a gentle giant but she’s so nervous so she needed to stay by her mom’s side for her picture ❤️

Cats feel safer when they are elevated so it was nice to see Toby taking advantage of the perches in our exam room. As a cat friendly practice with our staff certified in fear free techniques, we always strive to make your cat's visit as stress-free as possible! Toby is a 15 year old Non-standard Napoleon cat, which is a cross between Persian and Munchkin. As you can see, they look similar to Ragdolls. He is absolutely gorgeous with the softest fur!

Here is some puppy cuteness to start off your week! You already know Alyssa's Petunia aka Tunie! And now we want to introduce you to the newest member of our new Sarah's family...this is Alpacino aka Alpie! Both of these cuties are 10 weeks old but Miss Tunie is over 16lbs now while Alpie is just 12lbs. They had a nice puppy play session earlier! Tunie was showing this new little man the ropes 😜

Frankie just could not believe it when Dr. M told him that yesterday was the 7 year anniversary of the hospital opening! And he agreed with us when we said where does the time go?! Handsome Frankie is 5 years old and he came in today for a technician appointment to get his blood drawn by our two Sarahs 😉 He is just such a good kitty!

Dani's boy Waylon is posing with our newest technician Sarah (yes, now we have 2 Sarahs!). Sarah is from upstate New York in Albany County where she was always rescuing animals when she was a kid so she was destined to have a job working with them! In May 2020, she graduated with her Associate’s degree from SUNY Delhi in veterinary technology and she passed her veterinary technician licensing exam (VTNE) that same year. She decided to go back to get her Bachelor’s degree and graduated in 2022. She worked in upstate New York after graduation and recently moved to Connecticut to live with her boyfriend. She also shares her home with 2 cats named Winston and Delilah. And she and her boyfriend will be adding a puppy to their family soon. She is excited to further her vet tech skills and knowledge. She just loves helping animals in need. Her favorite animals are otters and cows. We are excited to welcome Sarah to RVVH!

We are closed today, Saturday, August 17th and we will reopen on Monday, August 19th. Our last appointment yesterday was this little man! This is 5 month old Dingo and he is a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. Catahoulas are the only breed of dog to originate from Louisiana. Dingo however originates from Texas 😉 His right eye is all brown but his left eye is mix of blue and brown. He is just a striking boy!

"Isn't she lovely, Isn't she wonderful, Isn't she precious?!"🎶 We just can't get over how amazing this little lady is! This is Xena, a 15 week old German Shepherd. She saw Dr. C and Mary yesterday for a mild infection in her right ear. While we hope her infection is better soon, we also hope she never grows into those big beautiful ears 😉

Last Friday, Porter had a technician appointment with Alyssa to recheck his ears after being treated for an infection. Thankfully, all clear! Porter is a 2 year old Lab mix. Look at him sticking out his tongue at Alyssa! She could not resist taking a picture 🤣

Yesterday, this handsome man had his neuter surgery with Dr. C and Kendall! This is 17 month old Jasper and he is such a sweetie. He did so well! This is him when he took his pre-surgery walk with Dani. What a face!

4 month old Kona had her first exam with Dr. M and Rachel today! Since her mom and dad adore Hawaii, she of course had to get a Hawaiian name like her big sister Maui! It was sensory overload for this little baby as there were so many sounds and scents to take in. So she was a little nervous but she was a very brave girl 😻

2 year old Shih Tzu Nellie is the sweetest little peanut but she gets incredibly nervous when she comes to see us. But we did discover that she loves squeaky toys and was running around the room carrying one. And Kendall had the brilliant idea to try to entice her with a Delectables, which is a squeeze up cat treat! Apparently it’s popular with dogs too

2 year old Staffordshire Terrier mix Murphy had his annual exam, heartworm test, and vaccinations with Dr. M and Alyssa today. And on the way out, he stopped to see Helen and JoAnn to pay his bill! He jumped up right by the "payment is required at the time of service" sign so of course JoAnn asked him for his credit card 🤣

On Friday, Mary has added two more little peanuts to her pack! Say hello to these darling little Chihuahuas Phyl and Cheech! Mary is a sucker for Chihuahuas so when she heard these guys had been at the shelter for several months, she just had to adopt them. They are sweetest little guys and they are so lucky to have Mary as their new mom 😍

This is 4 year old Olive! She is a mixed breed of dog but can you tell what her most predominant breed is??? Here’s a hint - check out the fur on her back! Miss Olive is part Rhodesian Ridgeback and their hallmark trait is a backward growing stripe of fur running down their back. She is just such a beautiful dog!

Alyssa’s little girl Petunia had a fun play date with our newest puppy patient! Say hello to 12 week old Pitbull mix Walter. Isn’t Walter such a great name?! At first, Petunia wasn’t sure what to make of him as he is tall and lanky and 18lbs to her 7lbs. But she stood her ground and they had the best time! What a cute little pair!

This breed is known for being a little anxious but our girl did not read the handbook and is the sweetest girl! Check out a baby Blueberry in the bottom corner 🥰

Alyssa’s rapidly growing little girl Petunia wants to introduce to our newest technician Kendall! Kendall has been nursing sick animals back to health since she was a young child. From hiding injured baby rabbits from her parents until they were old enough to be re-released to hiding a sick cat in her college dorm room until a rescue could take over, it was never a secret she would have some kind of career helping animals. Kendall graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2013 before realizing her dream of becoming a veterinary technician and then graduating with a degree in Veterinary Technology from Northwestern Connecticut Community College in 2020. She went on to pass her national credentialing exam to become a certified veterinary technician later that year. Kendall is proud of her “nerdisms” and is always striving to improve her knowledge base to better serve your pets. She has a special interest in surgery and ophthalmology. She has a dog and a variety pack of cats that share their home with her. Please help us welcome her to the RVVH family!

This is our sweet little old lady patient Shore! She is a nearly 14 year old Beagle. And mom says it is sometimes hard to get a picture of her smiling so she was happy to capture this one today when Shore came in for her annual exam with Dr. M and Dani. In typical Beagle fashion, Miss Shore LOVES her cookies! You have to watch your fingers so she gets so excited 🤣

Say hello to Teddy Bear Hawkins! He was named this because he looked like a teddy bear when he was little. He is a 13 month old Shih Tzu mix and he had his annual exam with Dr. C and Dani today. His mom says he is a picky eater but he sure liked the spray cheese 😉

Blaze is a handsome 4 year old long haired German Shepherd. He had his annual exam today with Dr. M and Mary. When you first enter the room, he lets out this big bark but don't be fooled because he is actually a goofball who wants ALLLLL the treats we can hand out! But we did joke with mom that with that loud deep voice, no one is breaking into their house 🤣

Our RVVH fur family just got a tiny bit bigger....say hello to Petunia! She is a 5 week old Pitbull mix and she is Alyssa's newest baby. She is the sweetest little thing! Alyssa's German Shepherd Stella, who is 6, is already protective of her new little sister. It is too precious! And we get it, Stel - none of us wanted to let her go either 🩷

It was a tough and emotional week here at the hospital but our amazing patients always center us and remind us why we do what we do. And that most definitely includes these two cuties! This is beautiful 1 1/2 year old Australian Cattle dog mix Frankie and her adorable new little sister Miss Chief (mom thought she was a boy at first so she had named her Chief 😉). They have quickly become buddies and it was so fun to watch them together yesterday! It brought a huge smile to our faces! We are closed today, Saturday, July 20th and we will reopen on Monday.

One of the sweetest and most striking ginger boys came to see Dr. M and Dani for his annual exam this morning! This is Goose and he is 4 years old. This boy is quite the talker and he wants ALL of mom's attention ALL of the time. Mom says he gets quite annoyed and tries to get in the way when mom is playing with her turtle sibling! Sweet 10 year old Sage had a dental procedure today with Dr. M, Alyssa, and Sarah. This little girl with the pretty markings is a petite peanut at just over 6lbs! Miss Sage needed two extractions as she suffers from tooth resorption. As you can see from her x-ray, two of her premolars had an almost moth eaten appearance and this is very painful for kitties. She should be feeling much better in no time! Her mom said she is already happily home and exploring the house 💜
