It was a cold, windy, rainy start (sounds like the start of a novel) but the 2016 farmers market kicked off on Apr 30th. Thanks to the many brave souls coming out to the Kankakee Farmers Market. I was selling, and will be next weekend, lettuce, kale, arugula, and radishes; and of course our GREAT corn fed beef hamburgers. The crops in the field could use a little warmth to help along but they are looking great at this stage. Hopefully will have sugar snap/snow peas and green beans by Memorial Day weekend. See ya at the market.

We had zucchini goulash earlier this week... but tonight we're having some white sweet corn. Looks awesome. We'll have it to sell at the markets tomorrow.

The crew is out picking pea pods now. Should pick about 6 bushels, on top of the 2 picked yesterday. Hope they all sell at the markets tomorrow!

We will be at 2 farmers' markets tomorrow -- Kankakee Farmers' Market from 7 a.m. to noon, located off Schuyler, a block south of Court Street. Tomorrow is also the opening day for the Watseka Farmers' Market from 7 a.m to noon. This market is in the First Trust parking lot, corner of Third and Walnut.
