The National Sporting Library & Museum is currently playing host to “2020 Hindsight: 40 Years of the American Academy of Equine Art,” an exhibition exploring the history and present success of the AAEA. Founded in 1980 by some of the top artists in the field, including Jean Bowman, Richard Stone Reeves, and Eve Prime Fout, the AAEA is a non-profit organization “dedicated to promoting and sharing representational art that celebrates the horse in sport and life. It also offers hands-on instruction from practicing equine artists with a goal of fostering artistic excellence in the genre.” Visitors can view works by the ten founding members as well as nearly 40 juried selections from contemporary artists.
The National Sporting Library & Museum is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and sharing the literature, art, and culture of equestrian, angling, and field sports. Visit www.nationalsporting.org to learn more.
