I don't really need a wheelchair yet, but I tried one out at the fair today. Around the house I walk and even run (short distances!) just like I always did. On longer walks I sometimes take a cane. But I do tire out more easily walking than I did a year ago and it shows up while walking the fair. [ 39 more words ]

If you watched much of today's Mueller hearings, you know that he came across sometimes a little confused, stumbling over sentences, and grasping for the right words. Like your well meaning but decreasingly effective nearly 75 year old uncle. Like me. The "go back where you came from" attack on the (very) liberal congresswomen of color sickens me. Dispute these women for their beliefs as you will, but they are duly elected and trumps fearmongering, hateful attacks are beyond civilized behavior. Remember this next November.

Big mother spiders!

One of the costs of living on a beautiful piece of property 900 feet deep in the woods is sharing those woods with many of nature's creatures, including big mother wolf spiders! They enjoy hunting inside houses. Over the past month we have "dealt with" four of them indoors, including one on the laundry basket. They are not dangerous, but look fierce when you come across them unexpectedly. We know they eat their weight in insects and are beneficial, but all in all I could do without them!

Look at a happy retired Horatio galloping in pasture. After two gloriously successful show seasons with Katherine after Longacres closed, Horatio was retired from showing after a recurrence of back problems he had when he was younger. What an incredible show jumping career this horse had!

To say that I am VERY VERY VERY unadventurous in trying new music would be an understatement. If it's not 1950's or early '60's rock or country, or a few favorite classical pieces, it probably doesn't exist for me. So it js noteworthy that Meghan introduced me successfully to Imagine Dragons "Thunder" recently and that it now lives in my iTunes library on my iPhone. Lyrics that I can understand and a catchy tune!!

This toy horse barn frame has taken up space in my shop for forty years or so. The cooler is in the picture only because I was too lazy to take it down for the pic. What makes this special is that it was fabricated by Noel Sayers, a well known figure in western NY equine history, builder of many horse jumps and active in the sport.
