COVID19 THOUGHTS FOR HORSE AND PET BREEDERS EVERYWHERE, Please don't shoot the messenger. I'm just going to toss this out there because I used to be a breeder in CT and showed as well. In hard financial times, the animals are the last to be looked after folks. The entire world, our world as we know it has changed. This change is going to devastate many families financially and unfortunately for a very long time. Pets and Livestock WILL suffer along with us all. Please consider "NOT BREEDING" this season and as a former breeding farm, I know what this means to many people and the plans that they made before the COVID19 virus hit the entire world. BUT, right now, none of us knows at all, what the future holds and the entire world is about to have huge financial problems. Supply chain problems, border closures, will worsen before this gets better and they released Federal documents that state they expect "rolling breakouts" of the virus over the next 18 months. Due to financial hardships, we can all count on many animals will be dumped, given up to rescues, or worse, die of neglect. It's definitely something to think about before you create new lives. You may never be able to sell that foal and you may need to do all vetting and feed that foal and your horses through a terribly hard reconstruction. Just tossing this out there because a horse or pony is a 30 to 40 year life. Please all stay safe and stay healthy. I'm just saying that right now, our futures are unknown and all of us need to truly think about things in ways we never have had to before. Hearts and Prayers to you all. Please stay safe and well.
