Maggie & Bo practicing their place work during DayPlay pickups. As mini and toy aussies, they still have herding instincts. But we’ve worked with them extensively and their off leash training is amazing. Small dogs CAN do it! And they’ll be happier and healthier for it 💪💪

Our DayPlay dogs displaying EXCELLENT downs in the Big Yard! We practice obedience EVERY DAY at DayPlay, and the results speak for themselves - only half of these dogs had training equipment on (and even the ones that did, didn't have to be corrected with their equipment), and the dogs are in a HUGE, open area, but maintained their commands beautifully.💙

We are SO grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community! A few weeks ago, our team met up with a few volunteers from Chesapeake Housing Mission to build a ramp for Ms Debbie, who needed some assistance more easily leaving her house. We had such great leadership from Bill, Bart, Ed and Kathy, and an incredible team to complete this project. We can’t wait for the next one!💙

Our first round of Beginner’s Scent Class is wrapping up, which means we’re getting ready for round two.

This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill and bond with your dog - all while utilizing their most important tool - their nose!

Our next five session Beginner’s Scent Class begins 11/5 and go through 12/10 (with a break Thanksgiving week). 🍁

The front door is such an exciting place for our dogs; it opens the possibilities for so many things! People, squirrels, other dogs, sights, smells, and awaiting adventure! But it’s also an incredibly dangerous place for our dog to find themselves feeling entitled.

SHOW your dog what your expectations are, stick with it, and PRACTICE! Because practice makes progress…

Meet our FIVE(!) chocolate labs that visited us this week - Cooper, Drake, Missy, River and Gia! Branden and Eli took them all on a walk down the road, and upon their return to the CalmPound, trainers Kelli and Mitch joined in for a great little session in the driveway🐾

We want to thank our incredible community for voting us Metropolitan’s “Best Of” for Dog Training and DayCare! We strive to improve our facility, our practices, and our team with each day and are so thankful that we have the chance to share our vision with our community.

It is our hope that every person and dog who steps into our facility not only has FUN but learns and grows with each interaction they have with us. We are so excited for the opportunity to teach and help make our clients’ and their dog’s life more enjoyable.

HIGHLIGHTING COOPER🧡
We made a post for Cooper recently, explaining how he is our only side dog in DayPlay. ("Side dog" meaning he doesn't go in our groups due to selectivity with other dogs.) However, when Cooper was young, he was a group dog, and we're working him back towards that!⏩
Over the last couple months, we've been making sure Cooper gets his own group adventure (as he does better on walks than in yards) at least once a day. He's been doing SO WELL, and last week, we had him in a full group!🐕🐩When he's been in groups in the past, he would growl after just a couple minutes, letting us know he reached his limit. BUT, in his group last week, he managed a whole 15 minutes with no issues, before we put him up, ending on a good note!🎵
We cannot express how PROUD of Cooper we are, and we only hope that you guys can appreciate how far he's come just based on this caption.
