Valley View Vizsla's

Valley View Vizsla's Vizsla Lover and breeder
Puppies raised in the home with children and other animals I have been involved in the dog world for only 8 yrs. A bit selfish I admit.
(10)

though I have had dogs and many other animals all my life. During this time I have been and continue to be mentoring with several well established, experienced and successful local breeders who have been most helpful in the sharing of there knowledge, resources and time. I am not a high volume breeder, only about 1 litter per year. I don't have a big fancy kennel facility. All our dogs live in the

house as family members. My oldest dog, Tiki (7 yrs) and I compete in Agility on the weekends and train at a local facility during the week. I have been working with my other dogs and hope to compete with them as well in coming year. Tiki and I have competed in a handful of the traditional conformation dog shows, but found it a bit boring, stuffy, serious, political and just not for us. Tiki did place first in her class at every show we entered:) She is so pretty. The real reason that I started breeding Vizsla's was to insure that I will continue to have a piece of Tiki (in her offspring) with me forever. The reason that I continue to breed Vizsla's is because I Love it. I love the breed, I love the science, research and genetics. I love the puppies. But most of all, I love the joy that A Vizsla brings to the people who are SMART enough, BRAVE enough, ACTIVE enough, LUCKY enough, DEDICATED and COMMITTED enough to bring them into their lives and their homes as a part of the family. A Vizsla can and will change your life. Like everything else,, You get out of it what you put in. Only with Vizsla's, you get more. I breed for a balanced dog. A fun loving athlete that wants only to please, (and to sit on) you.

You need to be AWARE of the very serious DANGER OF DOG COLLARS. I have experienced this personally with my dogs and at least 6 of my puppy people and their Vizsla's have too. That's only the ones that I know about. Thank goodness, none has ended in a fatality, but little Birdie (aka, Daisy) came very close. In fact, she lost consciousness, and wasn't breathing. Her owner brought her back and suffered a few bite wounds in the process.
The problem is dogs becoming tangled up in each other's collar. Usually while playing. Vizslas are very mouthy when they play.
My 2 males were playing right in front of us. Kam's jaw/teeth got caught in Dot's collar. I think one of them flipped or rolled trying to get away. Dot was choking, Kam was stuck. Both are freaking out! Growling and Screaming! At first glance, it looked like they were fighting. My daughter grabbed Kam. trying to pull him off, when I noticed that his jaw was stuck. We were able to release Dots collar with its quick release buckle. Thank heaven. Kams jaw wasn't broken, and Dotty never lost consciousness. Sadly, the same can not be said for many others in this same situation. Many dogs have died, while others have serious jaw injuries. Not only from playing with other dogs. There have been instances where dogs have gotten hung up on vegition while hiking, or their tag becomes stuck in their crate or even heating/air vents. When this happens, dogs panic, twist and struggle. The end result is suffocation. The event itself may only lasts for moments, but the resulting psychological trauma and possible behavior issues that can arise from it, will last much longer or can be permanent.
The psychological trauma is to both dogs and their people.
Just talking about this with my daughter this morning, the memory nearly brought her to tears. The lasting result in our household is, my males can no longer be together. I believe they both think that the other one tried to kill them that day. So now, they try to beat each other to the punch. So, PLEASE NO COLLARS ON DOGS when they are at HOME or when they are PLAYING Or at DOG PARKS. Microchip for ID. The image and the SOUND of it will NEVER leave you.
