A practicing veterinarian for over 50 years, Dr Midyette was well-known as a great man that did much for his community. In addition to providing veterinary care for several generations of residents, he served on the Bladen County Board of Health. After his passing in 2013, his family wanted to keep the hospital open to continue to serve the clients and pets of Bladen County, and to preserve the ou
tstanding reputation in which Dr. Midyette had dedicated his lifeโs work. Dr. Sheila Hanby was contacted by his family and began working at the hospital in 2013. In April 2014 she purchased the hospital. It is her goal to uphold the values of Dr. Midyette and provide economical and ethical care to the clients and patients of Bladen Animal Hospital. A Wilmington NC native, Dr. Hanby graduated from North Carolina State University with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1996. Following graduation, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Coral Springs Animal Hospital in Florida. Dr Hanby serves on the board of Bladen Animal Control and is proud to be able to offer quality veterinary care to the wonderful people of Bladen County. Dr Hanby currently sees patients mainly at her Leland NC practice, Capeside Animal Hospital, but is closely involved with day to day operation of Bladen Animal Hospital. Associate Veterinarian Dr Johanna Parker Burnette Parker was born & raised in Halifax County, NC. She graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from NC State University in 2007, moving back to southeastern NC in 2008. She joined the team at Bladen Animal Hospital in 2015. Dr Parker also works at Pender County Animal Shelter keeping the shelter animals healthy, and spaying/neutering them prior to their adoption. Dr Parker shares her home with her husband and two boys. In her free time she enjoys all kinds of hunting, including competition hunting and showing coonhounds; as well as riding her horse. She looks forward to meeting and caring for your pets.
