Arington Training Stable is owned and operated by experienced horseman Dave Arington. Full service horse training & a limited amount of riding lessons are available. Dave Arington has devoted over 40 years to the study and training of horses, founding Arington Training Stable in 1977. His life’s work has include

d starting colts for various disciplines as well as training horses for roping, general riding, carriage driving, and various other tasks. His training program focuses on taking time to form a trusting relationship between horse and rider. Training techniques include ground handling as well as ground driving and various methods to promote a horse’s gradual acceptance of human interaction, riding, and/or driving. There is no method of expediting these changes; time and consistency are required to achieve the best possible results with each horse. Pricing options at Arington Training Stable are as follows:

Monthly rates:
• Riding Training (Board and lessons included): $1500
• Driving Training (Board and lessons included): $1500
• Roping Training (Board and lessons included): $1800

Single Session Rates:
• Riding lesson on a horse provided by Dave (1 hour): $70
• Riding lesson on your horse (1 hour): $60
• Roping lesson on Dave’s horse OR your horse (2 hour): $80
• Driving lesson on Dave’s horse OR your horse (2 hour): $80
• Horse Evaluation: $50 per hour
• Training on your riding or driving horse at a location away from Arington Training Stable (2 hour): $100
• -Trailer in fee (for those wishing to use Arington Training Stable’s facilities): $50

1/4 Warmblood (Galypso)x 1/4 thoroughbred x 1/2 registered Percheron

Fantastic mover offered for sale through no fault of her own, but due to owner’s health issues. Traffic safe and has groundwork/obstacle training plus about 20 rides under saddle. Has been driven but is not a finished driving horse. Intelligent, responsive, and shows great potential to go in many directions. We think with her natural floaty trot & uphill canter she’d be super at dressage. Would also make a fantastic broodmare. No lameness issues but does have a small, old splint on front right cannon bone. Due to age and number of rides, she does require an experienced rider to bring her along.

Dave was keeping this mare because he likes her so much but circumstances have changed and she’s available. Was ridden by an amateur today for the first time in several weeks and she was great! Has the brain to go any direction.

Today’s ⭐️ Tip ⭐️ - have you checked the directions on your feed bag lately?

Whereas pelleted feeds aren’t perfect (for example, they may not provide enough high quality, bioavailable vitamin E), they are formulated based on the National Research Council’s basic recommendations to fulfill a horse’s minimum nutritional needs when fed as directed.

For example, a label may specify an amount of 0.5-1.5 lbs grain per day per 100 lbs of horse, with free choice hay. This calculates to a range of 5-15 lbs of grain daily for a 1000 lb horse. Weigh how much grain your feed scoop holds and go from there.

We often see horses being fed 2-3 lbs of a feed which label recommends a minimum of 5-15 lbs daily.

For easy keepers, a ration balancer may be more suitable as they are designed to be fed in smaller amounts.

Putting new bales out today and did the math to show how great of a deal these Macksteel Farm and Ranch Equipment feeders really are:

These particular 2 horses were going through a bale about every 3 weeks in a typical round bale feeder. They’ve been using this Macksteel feeder over a year (Looks practically NEW!) and go through a bale about every 5 weeks with it - hay stays dry & there’s almost no waste!!!

So let’s say those bales are $150 each (CHEAP in today’s market), that comes to $50/week with a standard feeder vs $30/week with MackSteel.

——SOLD—— UPDATE** Driving video added in comments! Coming along nicely & price will increase with training. Rez is a 6 year old bay mule who does well on the trails and obstacles. Quiet and easy to handle- was used this summer to lead rental horses on rides. Has been given fall shots and wormer. Rez is a little sensitive about his right ear but not bad.
