We're excited to share that Mr. Blue, who joined us on September 27, 2023, has found his forever home after 340 wonderful days with us. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to his new family for choosing to adopt and not shop. While we'll certainly miss him, we're thrilled to see him embark on this new chapter and thrive with his new family. Wishing Mr. Blue all the love and happiness in the world!

☀️Fun in the Sun! ☀️ Sandwich had some fun while helping fill up the pools today! Come meet Sandwich today at our Ellensburg location. Sandwich came to us as a stray found on White Pass. He was a little scared at first and has been doing great on leash, but he is slowing coming around to some of our staff. He is very food motivated and loves a good treat. He is a bit talkative and will share all of his opinions with you. He will need some TLC for him to trust his new family. We always recommend testing all our dogs with any other potential family members prior to adoption to ensure the best outcome for all! Please do your breed research before applying to adopt Sandwich. German Shepherds and GSD mixes are a special breed of dog with special requirements. These dogs were bred to have a job, and without the right activity level/purpose they won't flourish which can lead to issues down the road. These dogs are incredibly smart and need to be challenged both physically and mentally to really be happy. The German Shepherd is known to be vocal when excited and can be a bit mouthy at times, proper training is key in helping your German Shepherd adjust to their new life. German Shepherds are a fun, athletic breed that many have fallen in love with over the years, but please keep their breed needs in mind when considering adding one to your household.
"You got it, dude!"-Full House We have a full house here at the shelter and Mary-Kate and Ashley are ready to find their fur-ever homes! They are both social and active girls. They have an athletic build with a personalities to match. Mary Kate and Ashley were tied together and dumped at the shelter. They are great girls but do need yards with high fences so they don't get themselves into trouble. They both love to get pets and are eager to give out kisses. These ladies will follow their noses and they love to explore the park. Come take them for a walk today! They do not need to be adopted together. If you are interested in adopting these pets please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been processed. Adopters are welcome to visit the Ellensburg adoption center Monday-Sunday 10-4 (closed 12-1 for lunch).
🐶Rolling into Spring/Summertime! 🤪 Summit is here for this warmer weather we have been having. He is enjoying a good old fashion roll in the grass! This weather is perfect for dog walking! Come visit our shelter during our open hours and sign a dog walking waiver and get some exercise and walk some of our shelter dogs!! Meet Summit a 8 year old Cane Corso Mix. Summit came to us as a stray, he can be timid with new experiences at first, but with reassurance we know in the right home he is going to make someone excellent pet! Summit keeps his kennel very clean and waits until he is taken out to go potty. We always recommend testing all our dogs with any other potential family members prior to adoption to ensure the best outcome for all! Come meet Summit today, he is currently available for adoption at the Ellensburg Animal Shelter. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org and a staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal's picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don't Shop.
