This handsome little guy is Peanut and he's in really really bad shape. When our good friend at St. Leo's Food Connection in Tacoma reached out to us on his behalf, we knew he needed medical care immediately. Peanut belongs to two senior clients of the food bank and his health was quickly deteriorating. Peanut had stopped eating and drinking and was crying because the pain in his mouth was so severe. He had a dental procedure scheduled with Northwest Spay Neuter Center, but their soonest appointment wasn't until August and he was much too urgent to wait that long. So last weekend he landed in front of the team at Noah's Pet Project, a free vet care program offered once a month to low-income pet owners where they advised he seek immediate medical care, his condition was much too advanced for anything they could help with. Thankfully, finally, Peanut's people ended up in the right place at the right time, in front of one of our volunteers who reached out to us immediately and we were able to have him seen within hours. Poor little Peanut has the most diseased little mouth our vet had seen, not a single tooth was okay and he actually suffered from exposed bone and terribly painful infection. We were able to say yes to help this little guy, we will pay the cost.
We don't know his history, except that he is a senior boy that somehow landed with new owners just a few months ago. His new people love him dearly, but the cost of his medical care was something they could not cover. This is what we do, so we did. Peanut was started on a heavy dose of antibiotics to prep him for surgery and we provided pain medication while the drugs begin to work. His owners reported an improvement in his comfort in the first 24 hours, the antibiotics were working and he was actually eating and drinking again. 🙌👏 His surgery is scheduled for first thing next week and we are hopeful his condition is resolved with tooth extractions and we're not dealing with an oral cancer. Please send your love and prayers his way, he's so adored and deserves a longer life that is pain free. We love you little guy, you're so brave and we are here now, hang in there buddy. ❤️🩹
