Our annual Pet Memorial Service is quickly approaching, and we are excited to announce that we will be implementing something new this year. In addition to bringing photos and memorial items to represent your pet, we ask that you send one picture of your pet directly to us at [email protected] to be included in a tribute video played at the service. If you are interested, please email us the picture you would like to use, and the name and dates for your pet. The deadline for submitting photos is Sunday, August 25th. We cannot wait to see your picture and, most importantly, you at our service!

Losing a pet can be devastating. But there are some pets that will live nearly as long as their owners. For example, the Giant Tortoise routinely lives 100 years and can live longer. If you want something smaller, how about a cockatoo? These smart birds can live 40 to 60 years.

Discuss with the pet crematorium how you want your pet's remains handled. Some will pick up a deceased pet from your home or veterinarian’s office, and many will also deliver the ashes to your home.

There are many types of cremation options for pets. Owners can choose between: individual cremation, viewing cremation and communal cremation.

If your pet’s health leaves euthanasia as the most humane option, consider cremation as the best alternative to handling its remains. Your pet provided years of unconditional devotion and companionship and deserves more than simply disposing of the body.

In a private pet cremation, several pets are cremated at the same time but are physically separated by space or cremation bricks. This has the benefit of cutting down on the cost of the cremation while still enabling the family to collect the ashes.

Many people have different ways of dealing and moving on after the loss of an animal companion. Some of these ways include sharing and reminiscing about their pet, taking time to grieve or time away from daily activities, giving to other people, animals, and charities, spending time with other animals, and journaling or creating artwork, among many other ways.

If you have an older pet, it’s a good idea to think about what you will do when your best friend passes away. Most vets will offer to have your pet cremated. It can be a shocking thought just moments after hearing your pet has died. But if the thought of having your pet with you forever is soothing, that may be something you want to do.

If you aren’t a pet lover, it can be virtually impossible to understand the deep connection between owners and their pets. Research shows the grief felt by pet owners is no different than for a human death. Offer support and condolences to a friend who has lost a pet.

When they lose a beloved pet, many pet owners opt for a cremation casket and private cremation services. The casket holds the remains, and private cremation ensures the pet is cremated individually rather than communally.

If you are considering burying your pet’s ashes with your urn or are interested in water burial, then consider getting an environmentally friendly biodegradable pet urn. These urns do not contain toxic elements and naturally degrade over time.

Today people want to do more for their pet when it passes away. We want our pets treated like a person in death, because that’s how they were treated in our families and lives. Creating a perfect memorial and ceremony is a way to honor and tribute the love of their pet.

Do you feel uncomfortable having the ashes of your beloved pet with you at all times? Remember that you have many choices after cremating a pet. These include burying the container with the ashes or spreading the ashes in a favorite location your pet particularly enjoyed.

In a private cremation, a tag with your pet’s information stays with him or her at all times throughout the process. This helps to ensure that the remains you receive in the urn or container you provide are of your pet.

Seeking a certified pet crematory? Smart decision. Pet cremation certification standards are continuously updated to reflect new developments in pet aftercare, cremation techniques, cleanliness, safety, proper recordkeeping and more.

Many people mistakenly believe pet crematoriums only accept cats and dogs but most will cremate pets of all sizes and types, ranging from birds, hamsters and rabbits to larger pets such as potbellied pigs, reptiles and even miniature horses.

Dogs offer more than companionship; some brave dogs have saved lives. In France, a cemetery features a large sculpture of a Saint Bernard, Barry, who saved the lives of 40 people in the Alps before he died trying to save another person.

Some pet owners may want to witness the cremation of their pet to provide a sense of closure. This is typically allowed, scheduled by appointment, and can also include a fee. Some pet owners are not emotionally able to witness this, so it is not required or necessary, but is available for those who request it.

One of the benefits of cremating a beloved pet is the many memorial options available. You could get a photo or sculpture to display near the urn with the ashes. Some people bury the ashes and then plant a beautiful flowering bush in that same location.

02/27/2024

The loss of a pet is just as valid a reason to feel grief as any other. Having a ceremony where you bury your pet’s ashes or scatter them over a favorite place can give a sense of closure and help with the grieving process.

It’s natural not to want to think about the death of a beloved pet. But as your pet gets older, the inevitable is going to happen. Will you prefer not to be responsible for taking care of your pet after he or she dies? If so, you can arrange for a service to come in after your pet has died and handle all the details.

Are cats or dogs more popular in the United States? Although a 2013 survey concluded there were 86.4 million cats and 78.2 million dogs, there’s another way to look at the figures. More homes had at least one dog – 39 percent – than homes with at least one cat – 33 percent.

After the cremation, you will have options as to how to best handle the remains. You can keep them in an appropriate urn or container at home or you can have them placed in a columbarium at our site where it will be well cared for in perpetuity.

If you don’t have family or friends who understand what the loss of a pet feels like, talk to your veterinarian. They may be able to recommend a pet loss counselor or support group. Remember, your grief is genuine and deserving of support.

In many municipalities, it’s illegal to bury a deceased pet anywhere except in a licensed pet cemetery, so cremation is your best option. You can keep your pets ashes with you or scatter them in a favorite spot.

When a family pet dies, it is likely the first time a child has dealt with death. Be honest and be ready to reassure the child that he or she was not in any way responsible for the death and that you and your spouse are healthy and not about to leave anytime soon.
