Before and after of a small growth that we found during a routine dental. This might be easily missed by the untrained eye. Fortunately this one was benign, called an epulis. An epulis can be the result of inflammation from tartar and/or infection. Routine dental cleanings allow us to notice and correct things like this before they potentially become a bigger issue. 🦷🐾

Did you know that animals have played a major role in our military for many years? Most commonly used in battles were horses and dogs, even though dogs weren’t officially recognized by the military until 1942. Dogs are great at sniffing out explosives and other weapons, taking down enemies and of course, are a great morale booster for the soldiers. It is unclear how many dogs have lost their lives in combat over the years but there is no doubt that dogs have made a huge impact on the battlefield. From the Boston Terrier mix named Stubby, who earned the title of sergeant by serving in the trenches in France during WWI, alerting troops of incoming gas attacks and rescuing wounded soldiers to a Belgian Malinois named Cairo, who was part of the raid that took out Osama Bin Laden in 2011. Please remember and honor our 4-legged heroes alongside our 2-legged ones today!
