We are so deeply saddened to learn of Val’s passing. She was an amazing woman who moved mountains to save countless dogs’ lives.
We worked closely together to bring the community puppy yoga events, so if you were able to join us for any of those, you were lucky enough to meet her and some of the adorable pups she’s saved.

Did we use sit-stays every 10 min for me to catch my breath yesterday? Yes. Yes we did 😮💨 when I sat down for a break, Riv & Parker decided that was perfect zoomie time 😝 let the lung exercise & Covid recovery begin!
Hi! I know I’ve been quiet on the social media front & slacking on all the cute dog photos, but truth is, I’ve been struggling.
My depression has been bad these last few months. We’ve had to deal with a lot of stressful, unexpected crap and ya girl is hella burnt out. Then on the 729th day of January, the sun came out! (Literally..haha 😅 did you know january was 89% without sun?) I started to feel the spark inside me ignite again, then I got Covid and died. It’s been…fun.
I feel isolated, defeated, exhausted… I feel like I’m failing my business & amazing clients, and being flaky for having to cancel so frequently lately. But the truth is, none of this works if I don’t take care of myself first.
Yes, I’ve been a little quiet on social media, but this was one of the first boundaries i set for taking care of myself. Being active on the socials is SO. DRAINING. It’s the first place my mental health goes to die. So to combat that, I haven’t been taking photos when I am out at camp..which means I have no photos to share with you all here.
I’m choosing to be more present with myself, the dogs, and the beautiful world around us. I’m prioritizing being more hands on rather than having my phone in one hand trying to document everything for you all to see - and let me tell you, from a business owner standpoint, there is A LOT of pressure to document & share everything I do. It’s all advertising material that helps promote yourself & your business. - but my days without my phone are so much more peaceful. I’m happier. The dogs are happier.
Anyway, if you find that you’re struggling, know that you’re not alone. I see you. Take a few steps back. focus on yourself & the present. It will be okay.
If someone you know - a friend, family member, fellow small business owner - is struggling, be there for them. Hype them the f**k up! Spread the word about their amazing business.
And speaking of spreading word about a friend’s amazing business, I’m trying really hard to grow my pack numbers out at camp. It would mean the absolute world to me if you’d share posts, tell a friend, invite people to follow the socials, anything!

It’s robbing season! The goldenrod is starting to die off, which means there’s less nectar to forage for. Resource competition is going to get fierce among the bee species as they prepare for winter. I went out to the hive this morning to observe, and I saw about 5 yellow jackets hanging out near the hive. They haven’t gone IN (yet) to steal honey, but I’m going help my girls out by putting in an entrance reducer (that block of wood) at the hive entrance. Entrance reducers are exactly what they sound like… they reduce the size of the entrance! This makes it easier for the girls to defend their entrance points to the hive, and harder for other bees to get in to steal the honey they worked SO hard on. I’ll go back out later when it’s warmer & they’re more active to see what they think of their new front door 🐝

Hive update! It’s been a minute since I’ve shared…have you guys been crazy busy & burnt out from social media too?? Anyway, the gals 🐝 have some awesome things going on! Their first box is almost filled out and has at least 3-5 frames filled with brood comb. Woohoo! We did our first mite treatment (not in the reel) using Formic Pro patties that target mites that are in the brood cells. The vapors from the patties kills the mite eggs AND the mites that are hanging out in our baby bees. After the patty treatment, we put on the second box for the bees to begin expanding into. We will do this treatment again once the second box has 3-5 frames filled with brood. What you’re seeing from the 2nd box (the box on top) is 10 days after patty treatment. The workers have done a great job at building comb, and Queen Beeyoncé is happy with their work & has begun laying eggs up there! Now that our first round of mite treatment has taken care of the mites on the babies, we need to take care of the adults. The dribbler you see in the video dribbles the treatment right onto the adults, killing any mites that are on them. This will be done roughly every 2 weeks. A healthy bee colony is essential for their success, and an overrun mite population can be detrimental to hive health. By using both the patty & dribbler treatments, we ensure the health of multiple generations of bees 🐝 #honeybee #savethebees #beekeeping #vermont #vermontsmallbusiness #vermontliving #honey #bees #motherofbees #beehappy

First hive check! They’re about 1.5 weeks in the hive since we brought them home. I removed their syrup bottle (there’s plenty of nectar for them to collect from flowers now) and checked the frames to make sure the bees are doing what they’re supposed to be doing. We saw the beginnings of honey production, cells filled with pollen, and brood cells - which means Queen Beeyoncé laying eggs!! Next check will be in about a week to make sure everything is still going smoothly 🥰🐝 #honeybee #beekeeping #beekeepers #vermontlife #savethebees
Day 3: Making sure Queen Beeyoncé is out of her cage I opened the hive for the first time since Thursday afternoon and OMG! These bees have been busy! 🐝 You can even see some of the gals returning to the hive with their legs full of pollen! SO cool!
