When life gets you down, do you wanna know what you’ve got to do? Just keeping swimming, swimming, swimming…
Or in Darby’s case, just keep wagging, wagging, wagging… #happydog #dontletlifegetyoudown
After a recent post we shared about the growing struggles within the veterinary industry, one of our long-time Bohemia clients felt compelled to send a little extra love our way. It truly warmed our hearts. Inside the card she wrote:
“Dear Dr. Kramer,
Once I read the post on Facebook, it brings to light an ongoing problem that people don’t realize is happening. The aftermath of what these vets, doctors and staff endure on a daily basis. They wear multiple hats! Doctors have the stress of having a life in their hands […] but people don’t realize what the inconsiderate mannerisms and hurtful comments do to these people! It saddens me that it’s not realized that these employees have feelings and emotions too!! In my 35+ years of coming, I have nothing but gratitude for Dr. Kramer and staff at Atlantic Coast.
Much love.”
A small gesture with a big impact. #thankyougoesalongway

Lily came to us as a shy dog with two badly broken front legs. Now she is the most energetic and loving girl thanks to a successful surgery, a speedy recovery, and a loving home.
Special thank you to Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue.
Just a few months ago Luka was brought into our ER in critical condition after being hit by a car.
Look at her now. We are so happy for Luka and her amazing progress. Keep enjoying life like every dog should Luka!

Frankie
Meet Frankie <3 Frankie went missing from her home October 22nd 2012 and was gone for three days. When her family finally found her, she could not stand on her back legs. Frankie's owners brought her here to NYVSC where we examined Frankie and took x-rays. The x-rays showed that Frankie had a broken back and severe spinal trauma. The doctors think she may have been hit by a car. Frankie is only 7 months old. With such a loving and sweet personality the owners could not put Frankie to sleep. They decided to medically manage Frankies condition and to begin physical therapy as soon as possible. Unfortunately their home was damaged during the hurricane so Frankie has been staying with us until they are able to find a new home. During that time we have placed Frankie in a body splint to help support and stabilize her spine while she heals. The splint will be able to be removed very soon. We also had a cart specially made for Frankie and have been doing physical therapy with her every day since. We have noticed that she is now able to stretch her back legs and every now again we see her shaking them. We hope Frankie will be able to go home soon even though we love having her here. She makes us smile every day. We will keep you posted on Frankie's progress.
Bow is doing much better in his cart. Check it out!
Henry
LOOK AT HENRY WALK! August 1st 2011 Henry came to NYVSC because he was having difficulty walking. Initially Henry was limping, but that progressed and soon Henry could not walk, stand or even lift his head. After performing several diagnostics including blood work, x-rays and an MRI NYVSC discovered Henry had a spinal cord compression at C6-C7. Shortly after diagnosis Henry was taken to surgery to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord. Just a few days after Dr. Carb operated on Henry he began lifting his head. Over the next few weeks Henry would undergo extensive physical therapy and several treatments with Dr. Malik our Acupuncturist. This video shows Henrys progress just a few weeks after surgery. Check back soon for more updates on Henry!!
