Our mission is to rescue domestic rabbits turned loose and abandoned by their owners, take in rabbits from animal controls and shelters when their "time is up," and provide health care, spay or neuter, good care, healthy diet socialization and more. Then we adopt them out as happy and healthy fur-ever family members to qualified homes plus educate our adopters and the general population regarding
good rabbit care. Rescue; We work with the general public and proper law enforcement to rescue domestic rabbits abandoned to the wild. Many people dump their pets if they choose to not care for them anymore. Easter is a hot time for rabbit dumps and that is when MOHRS is on the scene. Out team safely and legally catches the scared rabbits and properly treats them for any parasites, injuries, or pain they may be experiencing plus having them spayed or neutered and vaccinated for RHDV2. Volunteers work everyday with socializing and getting to know each rabbit where a perfect match can be found for any loving family. We post here on Facebook, Instagram, PetFinder, and our website with any adoptable bunnies. Education; Our extensive bunny 101 class will teach you any and everything there is to know about the care and keeping of your future fur-ever family member. From the basic necessities to keeping your bunny happy to what to do when your have a rabbit in crisis, it has it all. Plus, we love to educate on our social media platforms and hear from owners with their own tips and tricks. Volunteering; We always need help when it comes to the care of The Bunny House and its 150+ residents. Basic tasks including feeding, cleaning, and grooming but the projects go on and on. Happy Fourth of July! This is just a reminder that 4th of July celebrations can be challenging for our sweet, furry friends. Loud noises and bright lights can cause stress responses. To help keep everyone calm this holiday, we recommend preparing the environment ahead of the fireworks. For example, you can help your buns habituate to the loud noise by placing a radio or sound machine in their room. Gradually increase the volume throughout the day to help de-sensitize them to loud noises. Also, ensure they have a cozy place to hide. Closing the blinds and spending quality time with your buns can also bring comfort. We hope you and your furry family enjoy the long weekend. Stay safe ❤️🌟

We have an incredible reunion story to share ❤️ Last week, our Director, Joy, & amazing volunteer, Bruno, were featured on Fox 2 News. They brought some shelter buns, including Pebbles (shelter name-Nessa). Pebbles’s mom, Kaity, saw the segment and recognized her sweet girl! During a storm at the end of March, a door flew open, and Pebbles escaped. After knocking on doors and posting flyers, Kaity had given up hope. However, when she saw Pebbles on the news, Kaity contacted Joy, and they were reunited ❤️ We are so happy for Pebbles and Kaity!
