The 4th of July and all of the firework celebrations that come with the holiday are right around the corner. Lets talks about pet safety!

Humans may enjoy the revelry of fireworks, but for a lot of pets, fireworks (like thunder storms) can cause a great deal of stress. However, there are many things you can do to help minimize your pet's anxiety during this time. Here at 4 Paws, we are very lucky we barely, if at all, hear fireworks within our building. Here are some tips for when you are home with your dog during fireworks:

🎆 Keep pets indoors if possible during firework hours. Scared dogs are more likely to look for ways to escape the noises by ducking under fences and bolting.
🎆 Find a space in your home where your dog feels safe and the sound of fireworks is muffled.
🎆 Walk/play with your dog during daylight hours to wear them out, and avoid times when fireworks are likely to be set off.
🎆 Enrichment activities and calming music are great ways to distract your pup from fireworks. One example is to fill a kong with your dogs favorite treats and freeze so it lasts longer!
🎆 Make sure your dog has some form of identification on them in case they run off. This can be an ID tag on a collar, and make sure your pup is microchipped (and that their microchip is registered!).
🎆 The time to talk to your vet about calming medication is now. Make an appointment with your vet to see if this is a good option for your pet!

Happy 2nd birthday to this certified Wild Child and cool kid, Mumford! We have watched Mumford grow up since he was such a tiny fluff ball and we are sooo proud of the pup he's become! 🥳🐶

As always, huge thank you to Lazy Labs Bakery for the delicious cake, and to all the guest pups that attended and brought gifts for the birthday boy! They had a total blast in the pool and during cake time! 🎁🎉

This package is $15 and can be added to any Daycamp appointment on June 20th.
If your dog is not group approved, they can still participate with a photo and goodie bag for $10.

It’s time for another Meet the Staff Monday!

Meet Gwen, one of our Front Desk Receptionists 🐾

Gwen is a retired middle school teacher who joined our team because she just loves dogs! She says her absolute favorite part of the job (other than meeting lots of pups) is the people. She enjoys all of the staff here at the Lodge, and the clients that walk through our doors! 🐶

Gwen has a French Bulldog named Vito and she absolutely loves to garden in her free time!! 🌸

We are so super excited to announce our Employee of the Month, Donna!!! ❤

Donna is one of our wonderful groomers. She does such an incredible job making sure every dog leaves the salon looking and feeling their absolute best! Donna treats her clients like family, and is so good at making each and every person and their pup feel special. She can brighten anyone's day and is always so helpful.

It's already the end of MAY!!!! We are excited to announce our very special pups of the month!!

🐶 For Daycamp, we have Kona!! Kona is a regular daycamper. She enjoys wrestling and playing with her friends, bouncing around outside, giving the staff hugs, getting lots of butt scratches, and hopping around like a bunny rabbit in the pool! She is always a joy to have in camp and such a good girl!! ❤

🐶 For Lodging, we have July!! July lodged with us for a week this month, but she's also well known by all of our Daycamp staff as one of our Enrichment regulars!! July is a ball-obsessed, pool-loving, sweetheart! She could play fetch forever and we don't think she'd ever get tired. She also loves long walks, and lots of pets, and is such a good girl!! ❤

🐶 For Training, we have Jack!! Jack just wrapped up a 7-day Lodge and Train. He came in to work on basic obedience, and due to his large size (at only four months old!), he was also working on some body awareness. He's still trying to figure out how to use his humongous paws! Jack is going to be such a big boy, and we can't wait to watch him grow up. He has a very sweet gentleness to him, and is such a good boy! ❤
