We had such an awesome Enrichment Thursday. We headed over to Lowes to help and Grandpa buy some supplies and look for a heater for the kennel room. We also worked on PLACE, SIT/STAY, and DOWN/STAY. I love seeing how these skills help Max focus on a “job” and that helps keep his focus away from things that could normally make him nervous. The muzzle gives him the freedom to be around strangers with more confidence and without me worrying. I love how the Sidekick leash makes Jackson so easy to manage when he’s excited.

Session 4 of our Good Dog Class…Broley is working on her Stay and Place and Loretta’s being a class clown. 😆

I LOVE using our muzzle as a training tool. Max can safely practice being around people. Today we went for a hike with my family, he loves Auntie Anna but I don’t feel comfortable having him unmuzzled around my younger nieces or a crowd. But he walked comfortably next to my niece and sat in the middle of the group of teens. He was scared at one point when he ended up with my brother as it started raining. This is a learning experience that we couldn’t have done without the muzzle.

“Is this how I’m supposed to be in Place?” It took Broley awhile to feel safe getting on the place bed but she picked up on it quickly, despite the rain and thunder all around her. Way to go, girl!!! Her owner is doing a great job of working with her patiently and consistently to help her get used to the transitional leash so she can learn to walk well on it.

Look at Max getting so brave around a new person. Max and I went to training with Dog Wizard last summer due to his fear of new people and tendency to nip/bite out of fear. Thanks to their continued support, Max and I keep growing and learning and becoming more confident with each other. Thank you for teaching us and for your gentle persistence with Max.
