🎉 We would like to acknowledge and congratulate our very own Reilly Tsilis for passing her board exams! She is officially a Licensed Veterinary Technician and we can’t wait to see all that she will accomplish as an LVT!

Becoming a LVT requires dedication to veterinary medicine, discipline, and annual continuing education to keep an active license. SAVE is fortunate to have a total of 9 LVT’s on our team now!

💥 4th of July is almost here and we know veterinary emergencies are going to happen, regardless of the day or time.

Fireworks can be very scary for pets, so please take all precautions to make sure your pets have a safe and secure place to go and that they are wearing identification, if they should go missing. If your pet usually takes anxiety medications, make sure to have plenty on hand prior to Thursday.

Our trained veterinary team will be here ready to help your pets, if they should need us!

Our office will be open at 6pm Wednesday, July 3 and will close at 6am Friday, July 5.

Our February Student of the Month - Second Year Student, and Class of 2024 President, Annalee Smith.

“My name is Annalee, and I’m a second year vet tech student here at Columbia State. My areas of interest in veterinary medicine are emergency/critical care and surgery/anesthesia in both small and large animals! I chose veterinary medicine as a career because I love how it is always evolving and that there is always something new to learn, no matter how long you’ve been in the field. There was really never another option in my mind. I absolutely love learning, whether it be hands-on skills or classroom material and I can’t wait to put my knowledge to use showing future technicians the areas of medicine I love. My favorite subject so far has been either anatomy or pharmacology. I enjoyed the specific details in anatomy and loved learning the mode of action and attributes of each drug. I plan to further my education and technician career by transferring schools after graduation and hopefully pursuing a specialty in emergency and critical care or surgery and anesthesia. My advice for prospective students is to jump in and enjoy your time as a student, it goes by so fast!”

Honestly in Veterinary medicine, the sky is the limit. So aim high! 🌟

We had a great time painting our pets at Pinspiration the Shoals for our annual Christmas party! It was so much fun getting together and being creative! We are so thankful for a hard-working and compassionate group of people. 🎨🎄

Oct. 15-21 is National Veterinary Technician Week!
Our veterinary technicians serve a vital role in the functioning of the hospital. From taking the patient history and vitals, placing IV catheters, taking radiographs, running lab work, assisting in surgery and everything in between. Above all, they are an advocate for your pet!

Last week, Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine hosted a career expo for veterinary and veterinary technology students. Dr. Clinton Brown and Amber Jackson, LVT talked to students about a career in small animal emergency at SAVE. We appreciated the opportunity to meet the future graduates of Mississippi State University!
