Ohhhhhh Molly ❤️

Molly is a 1-year-old Weimaraner mix with a story that will tug at your heartstrings. This little doll came to us as a puppy with her siblings and quickly became a shelter favorite. She was adopted in record time, but sometimes life throws unexpected challenges our way. 💔

A month and a half ago, Molly was returned to us, and we could tell something wasn’t quite right. After some close observation, we discovered she had ingested a rock, causing a large blockage that required emergency surgery. 🚨 As a municipal shelter, surgeries like this are beyond our scope. But Molly’s story touched the heart of a generous donor who stepped in and sponsored her surgery at a local vet clinic. Thanks to their kindness and the skill of the veterinary team, Molly’s life was saved! 🩺❤️

Since then, Molly has been on the mend, recovering under the watchful eyes of our Medical Supervisors and the loving care of our Upstairs Offices team. And now, this resilient girl is bouncing back with all the energy and love you could imagine! 🌟

Molly is ready to find her forever home—a place where she can continue her journey, showered with the care and love she deserves. 🐾 Foster Friday Spotlight: Meet Max! 🐾

Found one early morning at a dog park, Max’s journey to our shelter started when a kind-hearted citizen spotted him while out running with their dogs. Though they couldn't keep him as they were heading out of state, they made sure he was safe by bringing him to us. ❤️

Fast forward a couple of months, they returned and were shocked to find Max still waiting for a home. Without hesitation, they signed up to foster him, and boy, were they in for a surprise! 🎉

Max was a bit scared and down in the shelter, but with just a little time to decompress, he showed his true colors—turns out, he’s a Unicorn Dog! 🦄 Max is the perfect companion—wonderful with their three other dogs, a gentle giant with their 8-year-old and newborn, and just an all-around goofball who loves to run, play fetch, and then sprawl out on the couch for his favorite activity: sleeping. 😴

Max’s fosters describe him as the goofy big brother who’s gentle with everything—people, other dogs, even treats! 🍖 He’s the kind of dog who would be fantastic at home, in the office, or even hanging out at your favorite restaurant. 🏡🐕‍🦺🍽️

Max has waited so patiently for his forever family, and we’re hoping that through this post, someone out there sees just how special he is. Could you be the one he’s been waiting for? It's ! 🤩

Kayla has worked for FWACC for 12 years! Over her time at FWACC, she's worn so many hats. She started as an Animal Control Officer, then became a Volunteer Coordinator, then Senior Officer for Education and Outreach, and now… she’s a supervisor for intakes and adoptions! 👏

Kayla’s experience at the shelter, really speaks to her love of animals and the dynamic of the FWACC team. Kayla says, “The staff that works tirelessly day in and day out, caring for the animals. We’ve got an awesome team of people that truly care about the animals here and it shows. Their dedication and love for the animals truly makes a difference in the atmosphere of the shelter.” (BIG shout out to her team at Chuck and Brenda Silcox Center!)

When asked what song describes her job at the shelter, she says, “Circus by Britney Spears. The shelter can be hectic at times and I know as a supervisor, all eyes are on me to know how to handle situations.”🎪

Kayla mentions that one of the most important lessons she’s learned from working with shelter pets is to “Never hold grudges and forgive quickly”. She states, “Sometimes we [receive] animals that have been neglected or gone through things we can’t even imagine… 99% of the time, these animals are the first to meet you with so much love and forgiveness. You would think that after going through some of the things they’ve been through, they would be scared of humans, but they are usually the first to meet you with a big tail wag and lots of kisses.” 🐾

She has a 3-year-old pug, Matilda, that she adopted from the North Animal Campus when she was about 10 months old! She also has a 7-year-old Great Pyrenees named Danaerys, 2 cats named Poppy and Simon, and a Tarantula named Judge B***y ❤️🐶🐼🐱🐱🕷️

A total of 7️⃣0️⃣5️⃣ pets found their forever homes this weekend at the Mega Adoption event, and we're thrilled to announce that 8️⃣1️⃣ of those were from Fort Worth Animal Care and Control (FWACC)! 🎉🐾 We owe a huge thank you to our amazing staff, dedicated volunteers, incredible fosters, and supportive community. 🙌❤️

Special thanks to the Humane Society of North Texas for once again putting together and hosting such a fantastic event. 🏆👏

We’re also grateful to NBC DFW & Telemundo 39 for promoting and drawing in so many viewers 📺✨, as well as to Petco Love and Bobs By Skechers for their generous sponsorship. 🐶🐱💖

It's ! 🤗

Meet Garret!🕺 He began his journey with FWACC as a volunteer, then a foster, and eventually, joined our staff!
Garret is our amazing Volunteer Coordinator for the North Animal Campus!

Garret goes above and beyond for our shelter pets. We asked him what he loves most about his job, and he said, "The thing I love most about my job is that it has meaning and purpose. Having been in a previous role for 20 years where these two things were absent, it makes it that much sweeter once you find it. It’s an incredible feeling every day [to know] we’re all working towards something that is bigger than ourselves." Well said, Garret. Well said!

He shared that one accomplishment he's most proud of, is being a part of the Transport Team. The FWACC Transport Team prepares shelter dogs to be transferred to out-of-state rescue partners. These rescue partners have lower capacity rates and are typically in regions with lower stray populations. This increases their chances of getting adopted ASAP! Garret and our Transport Team have transported over 800 dogs since last October! ❤️🐶

If Garret could have one superpower, it would be mind-reading! He would use this superpower to understand what animals are feeling and thinking.🦸‍♂️🐾

This animal-lover has 5 dogs--4 German Shepherds and 1 Pomeranian. His German Shepards (from left to right) are: Luciana, Bourbon, Tanto, and Kona. His Pomeranian is named Vito! ❤️🐕🐕🐕🐕🐼
