RABIES ALERT!!
Today I saw TWO pets, a dog and a cat, that had been attacked by rabid raccoons! In both cases the owner witnessed the attack!!

This is a recent tick-borne disease test from one of my patients. It is positive for a disease called Anaplasmosis, a bacterial disease that causes vasculitis. Untreated it can be very serious. We will treat and this dog will recover completely.
HERE’S THE SCARY PART:
This is a tiny, older dog whose owner uses good flea and tick and heartworm prevention. This is a very pampered pet that is literally never outside except to eliminate. No one would expect tick borne disease in this dog, and the owner has NEVER SEEN A TICK on him!
TAKE HOME ADVICE:
1. Keep your dog on flea and tick prevention YEAR ROUND (and heartworm!)
2. Watch for any symptoms of tick borne disease, including lameness, loss of appetite, or lethargy.
3. HAVE YOUR DOG TESTED at least once a year for tick borne diseases! All it takes is a simple blood test. Early detection can save your dog’s life!!
