Hi all! Wanted to touch base on hours. We are still open Tuesday thru Saturday , from 9- 5ish.
We will be taking off every other Tuesday.
And open every Saturday.
Currently booked out 2-3 weeks.
Also wanted to talk about accepting new large breeds.
Since people like to call and "bully" Me about not accepting their dog. Yes, you see large doodles/poodles on my page. Those Dogs have been started at the groomer from a very young age. And come every 4-6 weeks. They are well trained. And most of the time we don't have to lift them. These dogs are very smart, know the routine and jump in the tub and on the grooming table. π
There is a big difference between this type of dog and a lab mix, husky, and other mixed or pure bred dog that has NEVER been to the groomer and are a few years old.
We have to handle your dog, by lifting them into the tub and the drying table. And have to use a professional blow dryer, and hope they don't freak out. Because they are not trained to grooming.
Your dogs safety is top priority. Dogs are"fight or flight" animals. This is dangerous for them and us.
Also, I should NOT have to explain all of my physical ailments which limits me on what dogs I accept. I should NOT have to deal with people getting mad because I won't groom their dog. I should NOT get asked "well does it say on your page that you don't do big dogs?" "Why do I see large dogs on your page?" "Well it's just a puppy"
We are booked out a few weeks for a reason. And we have more than enough large dogs. Certain breeds, as puppies, can turn into well over 100 #.
Yes i can give your puppy a bath, but if you try to get in 6, 8, or 12 months later, once it is huge, and I won't accept it, then you will get mad.
There are alot of groomers by me not accepting large dogs, because they are older like me and have been grooming as long as I have. And have the same physical restraints.
It is a hard position for me to be in. I appreciate all of my customers so much and I am very fortunate to have the wonderful business I do have. π
