Wow!
So here’s some food for thought 🤔🤔🤔
What’s better than 1 blue dog 🤔
Two blue dogs 💖💖
Feeling the Blues tonight 💖💖
I came across this fantastic free online dog training workshop.
It helps regular dogs become as well-trained as service dogs.
I used it to train Whiskey and started seeing results within a week or so. It is amazing how easy and it is and Whiskey really loves it.
It's a pre-recorded workshop, so you can watch it any time. Just thought I'd post it here if this helps other fur baby parents out there!
Please share it so that lots of dog owners can benefit from this.

Hey dog people, this is good to know💖
This is the second dog in the last two weeks that we’ve had come in to our hospital with this type of bone stuck around it’s mandible. Separate companies but the EXACT same design.
Please do NOT buy this type of bone for your pup! It’s not worth the risk. Luckily for this patient, our technician was able to wiggle it free but our previous patient was under general anesthesia for nearly a half hour while we went through every tool in our arsenal to saw through both sides of the bone safely.
Both dogs are lucky that they did not end up with lacerations or broken teeth.
This is a good article to read about the unknown respiratory illness affecting dogs at this time.
Remember to always consult your veterinarian when you suspect your pet is not feeling well.
We personally are keeping our dogs home and not mingling with other dogs.
We have a geriatric dog with a heart condition and a puppy who is still receiving his puppy series of vaccines.
Reports of an "outbreak" of some as yet unidentified canine respiratory illness are scaring dog owners. But veterinarians and researchers aren't panicking.
Remember if you must feed them

Haven’t tried them but I think I will.
If you have or do, please share your thoughts here. 🤔
Sometimes all we have is our imagination, compassion and pray for a miracle.
Every veterinary practice has seen some pretty amazing healing take place 💖
They are wondering if the Doctor is in?
This is so sad and didn’t have to happen
Please never feed another person’s animals without permission 🙏

Soaking feeds in freezing weather 💧❄️
We know that soaked feeds are best, but what about when the temperature drops and our soaked feed risks turning into a green iceberg? We have a few ideas!
• Use warm water to soak the feed – this makes soaking very much quicker so once there are no hard bits left and it is cool enough (comfortable to your hand) it’s ready to go;
• Wrap up the soaking feed with an old rug or pile hay around it. Even covering the tub with a feed sack helps;
• Add a measure of Summer Salt to the feed as salt lowers the temperature at which it will freeze;
• Take soaking feeds indoors. Even an unheated feed shed is better than being outside;
• Sit them on the muck heap with a feed bag anchored over the top;
• Your imagination will surely add to this list!
If you are feeding horses outside in very cold weather, put the feed in a sheltered place such as near a hedge or wall or in the field shelter. This is probably the place your horse is choosing to stand so check unobserved by them to see where they are finding the sheltered places.
Cold weather greatly increases the horse’s requirements, so be prepared, watch the weather forecast and put extra feed on to soak. Forage keeps them much warmer than grain-based feeds.
He is going to be one heck of a nice horse 💞🐴💞

Microchips can and do reunite lost pets with their families 💞
Last Tuesday, our ACO noticed a stray dog walking by a local business.
She tried to lure the dog with food and was able to get close, but not close enough.
She worked with an officer and realized a trap was needed.
After speaking with the employees at the business she was informed “Durango” (that’s what the employees had named him) and that he had been living at the business for 3 or more years and that he never bothered anyone.
ACO Smith contacted her rescue friends and asked for assistance in regard to setting the trap.
We were able to track Durango’s schedule throughout the week and on Friday, ACO Smith placed the trap in the right spot and at the end of the day when she went to get the trap, she was surprised to see he was in fact in the trap!
Once he was back at the shelter we checked for a tag and although he didn’t have one on his collar, but he did have a microchip.
After a little researching on social media and tracking down the phone numbers from the microchip we were able to locate Durango’s owner!
We learned his name was “Copper Chestnut” and his mom never once gave up on finding him.
She posted on social media every year in hopes to find him. (He even had on the SAME collar that he was wearing when he went missing!
We were happy to call and let her know that we had found her Copper.
His mom had been looking for him for the last 3 years and never once gave up hope, even after moving from Oologah and then to another town.
Copper traveled from Oologah to Collinsville over the course of the years.
His sweet personality never changed (his mom said he was always easy going).
We are happy to report that he is now home, and reunited with his fur sibilings and most important his MOM!
He will will be having surgery for the masses that are on his chest, but even though he was on his own for so long, his mom was happy to report on his blood work came back just fine.
We love when furkids are reunited with their owners.
PSA: Microchips save lives and help reunite lost pets and pet parents. They are inexpensive and extremely effective. If your pet already has a microchip, make sure it’s properly registered AND the information is current. If they don’t have one, why not? Check out Ward-Wiseman Animal Haven where you can get your microchip for 15$!

Having dogs in our lives are wonderful. Helping them to be the best they can be is our responsibility. Blue heelers (ACD) are my breed. They are very active, loyal, independent companions. They need a confident leader to follow or will be unruly out of control and often a danger to themselves and others. We practice what we teach, which is good leadership form the beginning of our relationship through their lives. 💖 We so often have dogs in our vet practice we can’t handle without sedation because their humans didn’t know or take the time to teach them. Please be the leader your dogs and horses need you to be. 🤠🐶🐴💖
