Who remembers Gracie?? Gracie was brought in as a stray last November after being found eating garbage on the street. She was skinny, dirty, and looked as though she carried the weight of the entire world on her shoulders...

After 106 days of waiting patiently, Gracie finally went home on February 18th, 2024 with her new family, and today lives the most beautiful and adventurous life a pup could ask for! ☀️

If updates like these tug at your heart then its time to join us in making more stories like Gracie's possible! 💕

Gracie's transformation is a testament to the love, care, and dedication of our amazing team of volunteers - from feeding and caring for the animals to helping them find the perfect forever homes. But we cannot do it alone. We need compassionate people like you to help even more animals in need!

Congratulations to October’s Volunteer Spotlight, Isabelle Willis! 🎉

Belle and her husband Peyton have been together for 6 years and just got married this August! They have three fur babies, Regional Alum Winnie 🐶 and two kitties, Kit and Millie.😍

Belle is a cosmetologist at her Mom’s salon (CW Hair Design Studio) in Johnstown, where she gets to work alongside her mom and sister Lillie every day! When she’s not working or volunteering at the shelter, Belle enjoys hiking and nature walks with her pup Winnie and is always looking for new places for them to explore together.🐾

What’s something your teammates might not know about you?
I have done pottery for about 6 years. I took a class in high school and have enjoyed it ever since. I am a member at Saratoga Clay Arts Center and I love throwing on the wheel and making different crafts with clay.

In her own words 🫶

“One of my favorite memories from my time as a volunteer is of a breakfast shift I worked with Jackie Fox. A dog named Hennessy was brought in… She was scared, covered in bites, and over bred. We renamed her Nessy and gave her the Regional glow-up! Some nice fur growing in, meat on her bones, and lotsssssss of love. It was my first real experience with a neglected dog and I will never forget the impact we had on her!

That also doubles as my favorite part of being a volunteer. Helping out the dogs who really need food in their bellies, a roof over their head, and lots of love. Being part of that glow-up that so many dogs need.

I would absolutely suggest volunteering to anyone! The shelter is somewhere that I will always look forward to going to. The dogs are so grateful to be loved and cared for while they wait patiently to find their forever homes. There are also so many lovely people involved in the shelter. Its a great community of dog loves that are so welcoming to any new volunteers!”

This past Saturday we held our 26th monthly Community Pet Food Pantry! Did you know our pantry started way back in March of 2022?? 🐾

This was our first time hosting the pantry at the Johnstown Community Center and we are happy to report it was a success! We saw quite a few new faces and handed out LOTS of information on spay/neuter and vaccination resources. And we absolutely LOVE when folks return to the pantry telling us they've recently gotten their pet spayed or neutered using the information they received from us! 😍

Our October Pantry fed 445 pets across 106 households and distributed just about 9,000 lbs. of pet food!!! 💚

Hats off to our Pantry Team - Alex, Deb, Jackie, Ed, Kelly, Christina, and Crystal - for their efforts - 9,000 lbs. is a LOT of food to move! 💪
