It's Deaf Dog Awareness Week! Did you know that the majority of deafness in many dog breeds could be prevented through proper breeding practices? Breeds that carry the merle gene like Great Danes and Aussies are at a greater risk of deafness due to unethical merle to merle (also called spot to spot) breeding. We get a lot of requests to take deaf dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds. In order to to help as many deaf dogs as possible, we have formed partnerships with other trusted rescues who also specialize in helping special needs dogs! A huge part of our program is transporting dogs to these partner rescues! The majority of our partner rescues are in Northern areas where there are more people wanting to adopt deaf dogs. Your tax-deductible donations allow us to continue our deaf dog transport program! This week I'm hoping to raise $5k so we can continue to help these special dogs.
