If you chose Delcran for Toe Bean Tuesday, you were correct!

Delcran is a 10 month old tuxedo kitty who arrived at the shelter in early May. She is spayed, felv negative, and ready to find her new home!

Delcran is a little timid at first but after going slow with her, she will lean into pets and even purr! She enjoys cuddling up on her towel or even curling up to nap underneath her cat bed. Delcran is a little uncomfortable with being held, becoming squirmy and wanting to get down.

Delcran may take some time to warm up to her new home due to her timid nature. She is more confident when given time to get used to her surroundings and her people, but can blossom into an affectionate little girl with it!

If you are interested in adopting Delcran, please come meet her at the Guilford County Animal Shelter during our adoption hours, 12 pm - 4 pm, every day but Tuesday.

Meet Godiva!

Godiva is a 6-year-old mastiff who embodies magnificence and grace. She is heartworm negative, spayed, and ready to charm her way into your heart and home.

Godiva is incredibly affectionate and enjoys being near her people. She nudges your hand for more pets. Despite her size, she's very gentle and enjoys the company of adults and older children. While she prefers a quieter environment, she has done well meeting children in public settings. We simply think she would prefer a quieter home.

Although Godiva is low-energy and enjoys her relaxation time, she's always up for a walk or a game of fetch if you're in the mood. She's your loyal shadow, following you around the house and melting hearts with her irresistible puppy dog eyes.

Indoors, Godiva is a delight. She's house trained and nondestructive, preferring to lay comfortably on the floor rather than on a couch or doggy bed. While she may be a bit apprehensive about steps, she has shown to navigate the house with ease and enjoys relaxing in her favorite spots.

Godiva is a dream in the car—once she's settled in the backseat, she's content to sit or lie down, enjoying the ride calmly and quietly. She enjoys treats and takes them ever so gently, showcasing her polite manners. She already knows the command "sit," demonstrating her willingness to learn and please.

If you're looking for an affectionate and laid-back companion, Godiva is the perfect match for you.

If you are interested in taking Godiva on a dog's day out or becoming Godiva's foster, please reach out to our foster coordinator, Kendelle Federico, at [email protected] for more information!

Meet Raquel!

Raquel is a 6 year old lab mix who arrived at the shelter in May. She is heartworm negative, spayed, and ready to find her new home!

Raquel is convinced she's a lap dog, and who could blame her with all that affection to give? Raquel is ready to charm her way into your life with her sweet nature and endearing quirks.

Raquel adores car rides—she'll either gaze out the window or curl up cozily in the back, enjoying the journey alongside her humans. She's a joy in public settings, maintaining her composure well and walking nicely on leash. Plus, she's already housetrained, making her an easy fit into any home.

This intelligent girl is highly treat motivated, which makes training sessions a breeze. She's eager to learn and please. While Raquel can be enthusiastic and may jump for attention, she responds well to redirection and guidance.

Raquel has shown herself to be good and gentle with children, making her an excellent companion for families. Raquel has had positive experiences with other dogs. However, her eagerness to show affection sometimes results in lots of face licking, which may overwhelm more reserved canine friends. She'd thrive with a patient companion who can help her refine her social etiquette.

If you are interested in taking Raquel on a dog's day out or becoming Raquel's foster, please reach out to our foster coordinator, Kendelle Federico, at [email protected] for more information!

If you are interested in adopting Raquel, please come meet her at the Guilford County Animal Shelter during our adoption hours, 12 pm - 4 pm, every day but Tuesday.

The 4th of July is next week! Our animal companions can get nervous and scared because of the fireworks so it now is the time to prepare for the festivities. Having your animal microchipped or have tags that have updated contact info is the best way to get them home if they get lost!

Some other tips to prepare for the 4th of July is to get calming treats to help with any anxiety that they might have and make sure that your pet is safely secured inside!

For Medical Monday, we would love for you to meet Sir Kitty!

Sir Kitty is a gentle, older knight who is looking for a comfy place to rest his head. He is estimated to be 12 years old. He was found as a stray in May and is in search of his happily ever after. Sir Kitty is FELV Positive and FIV positive so will need to go to a home with other positive cats or in a single cat home.

Sir Kitty has won the hearts of staff and volunteers with his loving demeanor. He is lacking teeth, so he does tend to drool a little when he gets excited but he enjoys getting pets and being close to his person. With the lack of teeth, he only eats wet food and tends to show off a little blep with his tongue 👅.

Sir Kitty is an elderly cat with FIV and FELV. He is susceptible for getting sick easily due to stress. He is in search of a home where he can be loved for the remainder of his days in comfort. His adoption fee is sponsored, so there would be no adoption cost for the adopter.

If you are interested in adopting Sir Kitty please come meet him at the Guilford County Animal Shelter during our adoption hours, 12 pm - 4 pm, every day but Tuesday.

Meet Etsy: A Gentle Soul Waiting to Blossom

Introducing Etsy, a beautiful nearly 2-year-old female dog who is as delicate as she is sweet. At just under 30 lbs and heartworm negative, she's ready to find a patient and loving forever home where she can truly thrive.

Etsy is a shy and timid girl who takes her time to trust, but once she does, she'll melt your heart with her quiet affection. Treats are the key to winning her over and building a bond—she appreciates the slow approach and will reward your patience with loyalty and love.

House and crate trained, Etsy is well-mannered indoors and appreciates a consistent routine, especially when it comes to housetraining. She's a low-energy companion who enjoys gentle walks and relaxing by your side. Etsy is not only well-behaved indoors but also excellent on leash, making her walks a peaceful and enjoyable experience.

She came in with another dog and while she may tolerate a calm, indifferent companion, she would also greatly enjoy being on her own. In her previous foster home, she ignored the cat, but slow introductions are always strongly advised.

When you're not looking, Etsy reveals a playful side, often seen rolling around on her back with joy. Her favorite spot is perched on the back of the couch, where she can watch the world pass by with a contented gaze.

While Etsy may not immediately curl up in your lap, she's worth the wait. Her quiet presence and gradual affection will enrich your life in ways you never imagined. If you're willing to offer patience, understanding, and a gentle touch, Etsy will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and companionship.

Bring home Etsy and discover the joy of nurturing a gentle soul. Your patience will be repaid with love beyond measure.

Etsy is currently in foster. To make an appointment to meet her, text Foster Coordinator Kendelle Federico at (336) 266-4138 or email her at [email protected].
