The recommendations in this circular are based on long-term average dates of the last killing frost in the spring and first killing frost in the fall. Every year does not conform to the "average," so you should use your own judgment about advancing or delaying the time for each job, depending on wea...

The USFWS today made its final ruling to list the rusty patched bumble bee as a protected species under the Endangered Species Act, making it the first bee in the continental United States to receive such protection. With this listing, the rusty patched bumble bee (Bombus affinis) will be protected from activities that could cause it to go extinct. The Fish and Wildlife Service has the authority to develop and implement a recovery plan. The ruling is a result of a petition filed by the Xerces Society and can be celebrated as a victory for the hard work of our conservation staff and the many partners who have assisted with promoting awareness of this rare, and now officially endangered species. Continue the Christmas celebration:-)

Our goats would like to remind everyone... If you had a real tree for Christmas this year, please keep us in mind when you take it down... Almost all of our 1500+ animals love Christmas trees, so we would be happy to take any trees your family would like to donate that our keepers will use for animal enrichment. We just ask that you remove all lights, ornaments, garland, tinsel, etc. before bringing it in to make our keepers' job a little bit easier. You can drop off tree donations anytime our Welcome Center is open, Tues.-Sat. between 9am-4pm. (We will be closed on New Years Eve)
PLEASE SHARE to help us spread the word to everyone out there who might be planning to throw their tree away this year. Thank you so much Facebook Family!
We hope that all of you had a VERY Merry Christmas, and from our grateful sanctuary to yours, we wish you a peaceful, restful night. Good night!

What a great group of students! The Paideia School came for a field trip to the farm where they explored the early stages of chicks to the oldest of broilers. From the vegetable garden over to the horse barn. Then down to the lake on a trailer full of hay. They ended the day with a picnic lunch by the pool. Thank you for visiting the farm at Meadowlark Gardens. See you soon!

Thanks so much to Morgan Beckham, Phillip Beyer and Trey Spivey who came out to experience poultry processing last week! You both said you wanted to come back for more so, I guess, you must’ve enjoyed it. Well, we’ll be doing it again this Sunday (5/22) from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. We can accommodate the first FOUR students to commit to the full time period. Lunch and refreshments will be available.

05/14/2016

FYI friends, we will not be at the Peachtree City Farmer's Market again this week, but our eggs will! They will at the Georgia Jams tent from 9 until 1. We'll be back next week with chicken! Thank you!
