Tis’ the season…for black flies. 🪰

We have had an influx in calls this week with concerned clients who have found similar markings on their pets bellies.

Please don’t panic! Black fly bites are most commonly seen on the abdomen or on the inside of the legs, where fur is sparse.

Oftentimes they’ll present as flat, pink to bright red circles with a brighter dot in the middle, similar to a bullseye 🎯

What should you do if you find a black fly bite on your dog?

Just keep an eye on it, they are typically harmless and should resolve within a couple of days. Treatment is not necessary as long as there is no excessive itching, swelling, or pain.🐶
