My training in mental health, physical, and learning disabilities inform my teaching methods to assist a wide variety of learners Fairy Tail Farm is a full service horse and rider training program. My primary focus is hunter/jumpers, but I enjoy working with students who participate in dressage and eventing as well. My program is based out of Pumpkin Ridge Equestrian Center, where I have school ho

We can do hard things- It had been nearly twelve years since I last stepped into a show ring and this past Saturday I got the chance to get back in the game at the lovely Freeman Farm show! A few of my students, and my superstar horse Bonnie, were my inspiration to get back in the show ring and challenge myself to see if I could put it all together. The answer- I CAN still do it- while I elected to have my round in the .60 jumpers go as a schooling round and I trotted fences- it was the just right choice for my horse on that day. We ended up completing the whole round smoothly and we ended on a high note where I feel confident that next time out I’ll have the right game plan to better support both of us.

I was so proud of all our riders! Monica did a great job piloting Bennett and Sandra and Rachel won all the blues in their division.

Perhaps best of all we had the lovely Darby Goodrich on hand as our in barn photographer. Darby you truly have a gift!!!! We are so thankful that you’re a part of our barn family.

Something that’s been increasingly important as I participate in the horse world is making space for horse’s to get to interact with other horses whenever it’s possible. My horse Bonnie is a highly affectionate young horse who loves her interactions and play time with other horses. Recently Bonnie has been helping her friend Rio become happy and relaxed in her body with lots of mutual grooming. Watching these two love on each other is literally one of my favorite things.

We are using a fundraising platform to help raise funds to get a footing additive for the arena at our new facility. The addition of GGT, a type of felt, mixed with the sand will create the best possible footing for jumping and working at higher speeds. We are hoping to jumpstart this quickly so if you can, feel free to contribute any amount. Every 5-10$ adds up and if everyone involved with the work we do contributes we'll reach our goal that much faster. Thanks for considering! Cheers to everyone joining us to make horses more accessible to all!

🤩 wow! This is all so well written. I do love seeing bitless work done with horses but I’ve been given the gift of riding some horses o my life where I truly do feel like I could tell you if the tongue was relaxed or not based on the feel of the horse in my hand- and this post by Lisa King kind of explains how that happens. Mind blown.

This September we are trying out a home school group for Wednesday mornings. In traditional lesson time frames it's hard to teach kids all the amazing skills that help them become good horse people! Skills such as cleaning stalls, learning about feeding horses, leading them, and catching them from the field are often hard to incorporate into a traditional 30 minute or 1 hour lesson. We are hoping these 3 hour long group sessions will help give kids a taste for what it's like to care for a horse and we will also be teaching them to gain confidence riding using vaulting- gymnastics on horse back! I learned to ride thru vaulting and I am a huge fan of teaching kids to gain a good balance, seat, and confidence without having reins or stirrups. Riders who begin with vaulting learn to balance themselves and therefore don't use the reins(and the horse's mouth) to maintain their position. If you know of any kids or families who homeschool and may be interested in this group please let me know! We are hoping to eventually offer this class either after school hours or on a weekend to provide another chance to participate.

Meet the crew! This is Cookie Monster. Cookie is a spotted draft who is a trail horse and jumping whiz kid. Cookie hops on the trailer like a pro and enjoys exploring new places. We would love to find a brave kid or adult to 1/2 lease Cookie in barn so she can continue to run with her favorite herd of mares and live her best life. Buckskin paint with feathers?!? Yes please!

I think this is so important for rider’s to learn even if they aren’t working with young horses.

A ride shouldn’t have a horse in a highly engaged frame from beginning to end of ride, rather there should be periods of collecting followed by periods of stretching and the amount of time is highly dependent on the rider’s capabilities and horse’s level of training.
