ABOUT ANTI-VOMIT CAT FOOD BOWLS

I was uncertain if elevated cat food bowls mattered or if all the claims were just hype to sell them, but I recently decided to test anti-vomit cat food bowls.

I suspected the claims might be more hype than fact, but I have been cleaning up vomit at least 3-4 time a day for a long time, so no harm in trying therm.

Note: There are no medical issues with any of the puking cats, just random puking. Often during the night and found in the morning. Hairballs are not considered vomit. I count vomiting as including food.

We replaced over 35 ground level cat food bowls in multiple locations with elevated, tilted cat food bowls and they have only been in use since Nov 30.

HOWEVER, I can report that since switching and with 70 cats eating, I have only had to clean up about five pukes TOTAL among all cats. Not even one a day.

While I do not consider this definitive evidence of effectiveness, so far, the results seem to be stacking in favor of elevated cat food bowls accomplishing what they claim.

Missy is one of three cats and three dogs whose owners both died. All were homed except Missy and Mr. Puff who are still seeking forever homes.

She loves climbing up in your lap and/or laying on your chest and will stay there for as long as you allow.

She is mild-mannered and gets along with all the other cats.

Missy will speak to you when she feels compelled to do so.

She was very shy when she arrived.

She and her two housemates were provided with their own room during acclimation and it took her about three months before she would come out of their space to explore and meet the other cats, so adopters may need to expect a slower acclimation with her.

Once she was comfortable, she goes everywhere, climbs everywhere, and is comfortable mingling with the general population.

Missy will make an affectionate companion cat for someone who has time to share with her.

Socks is a Tuxedo boy shown with Calico sister Cutie.

He and Cutie were feral kittens who were both trapped and fully vetted, then released outdoors where they came from with 24/7 access to food, water and shelter.

Very sadly, on Thanksgiving Day 2022, Cuties was killed by traffic.

Then due to winter weather, Socks was recaptured and moved into our Feral building where he remains. He can go back and forth outdoors to the Catairium and inside the Feral building.

He is very shy and I feel that he may be happiest as an outdoor cat in a safe location away from traffic -- unless his adopter is willing to invest the time required to gain his trust.

Mr. Puff is a long-hair, senior Tuxedo whose owners passed away.

In these photos, we just had him shaved so his coat could regrow and be groomed nicer.

He is so gentle that the vets were able to give him his haircut with his full cooperation. They said that he did not give them any trouble at all and he did not require any medication.

He is in good health and lounges in his private spot most of the time, but he calls out (meowing) or comes out to you when he wants a bit of attention.

He lived with dogs and is ok with them.

He is a very gentle senior boy who deserves to live out his twilight years in a low stress environment with someone who will love him and appreciate his company.

Queenie is a sweet but very shy girl.

She holds a hero's place at the Duncan Home For Wayward cats because she nursed and took care of 8 kittens when we first began.

She was feral before being trapped and then kenneled for months raising kittens. It took several months before she was touchable in the kennel without hissing and swatting. Even then she cowered severely when touched and remained terribly scared.

Once all the kittens had grown and only Queenie remained in the kennel, we interacted with her frequently trying to get her past her fear, but she remained shy and reclusive.

We decided to get her out of the kennel and released her into the Green Room and Catairium so she could be outdoors or come back inside the house via the tunnel system if she wanted. Unfortunately, she remained hidden all the time and a year later she had never left the Catairium and Green room and had never come into the house.

Due to winter approaching she was relocated to the feral building where she still has the option of being indoors or outdoors. However, the indoors does not contain people which she seems terribly scared of. I see her going back and forth between the feral building and the Catairium quite often, so she has a better quality of life than before, but she would probably be happier as a barn cat.

This is Nose White, sister to Nose Black.

She was rescued from an abandoned cat colony.

She is a very sweet Tuxedo who will bond with her human.

She is very mellow and gets along well with all the other cats.

She is gentle about seeking attention and she like sleeping with her human.

She is a doll and deserves a very loving forever home.

This is Nose Black, sister to Nose White. She is a talkative Tuxedo who will tell you when she wants your attention.

She will come to your lap for attention, but prefers to be stroked while constantly in motion walking back and forth on your lap. I feel that when more time is spent with her, then she will be happy to lay and stay. :)

Boots is a very friendly Tuxedo who is sometimes a bit silly. :)
He is a good sized cat with an easy-going personality.

His favorite move is to get near you - or he predicts where you are trying to go - and then throws himself down on the floor right in front of you and then refuse to get up or move. :) Picking him up is like picking up a very soft, bendable loaf of bread. :)

He is a son of mama cat Tree and brother to Prince, Poppy and Tuck.

He is adventurous and mild mannered. He tends to remain to himself, but when he decides that he needs a bit of petting, he comes and very gently touches you with one paw. If you ignore him, he will continue until you capitulate. :) After a few minutes of petting and stroking he goes on his merry way. He does not ask for much, so its really hard to ignore him when he wants a bit of attention.

I believe he would be happiest as an indoor/outdoor cat if his home is away from traffic. His life has always been indoors only and he does not have experience about cars or traffic, so he would not be safe near traffic.

Boots gets along well with all the other cats and is currently accepting adoption applications.

Oreo is a Tuxedo from a neighbor who had to go into a nursing home.

He has been an outdoor cat and is currently acclimating to being indoors.
