Say hi to the newest member of Dean’s and my family. This is Jadzia Dax, Dax for short. She is a one and a half year-old Yorkie that needed rehoming and we are going to keep her. We’ve enjoyed the last 24 hours introducing her to our way of life and she seems to really love it. Walks, car rides, lots of outdoor time in the big fenced yards. It’s all good. Riker is a bit put out but I think he’ll love her eventually!!

EDIT: I know better than to promote prior to getting the dog but I’m very happy the family has decided to keep Puddin’ and give her what she needs to remain with them. I have offered training and assistance to help make it work for Puddin’. Thanks to my Face book friends for all your shares and support. She is now not available for adoption.

I placed this sensitive, loving Heeler/Corgi mix with a dear friend in 2022. Ron has since passed and the family has decided Puddin’ is not doing well in their household. I have agreed to foster her again and find her perfect forever home.
She weighs approx 20lbs and has a short smooth coat. She loves to run and romp with other small dogs and would be best with a fenced in yard. I will get her fully up to date on vaccines and groom her, she is spayed, had her teeth cleaned in 2023. She will do very well in a quieter home as she is easily startled. She needs a predictable, consistent and trusted human to regain her confidence and reduce her submissive piddling.

She will be available for a meet and greet starting Friday, Nov 1 at Heavenly Scent Pet Resort. Her adoption fee is sponsored by me and $50. PLEASE SHARE

Oh boy, how many do you do?!!

•Pet your dog, all the time
•Talk to your dog, all the time
•Allow your dog to follow you, all the time
•Allow your dog to be on your lap or laying on your feet, all the time
•Pet, soothe, comfort your dog when it whines or barks for attention...or is simply anxious
•Allow your dog to demand affection/interactions
•Be emotionally dependent on your dog to the point that unhealthy dependency and interactions are no longer noticed
•Allow your dog to do whatever it wants, whenever it wants—aka, provide no structure, rules, or accountability
•Foster an environment of chaos, stress, and anxiety
•Refuse to train and pattern calmness
•Refuse to crate train your dog
•Refuse to correct your dog when inappropriate behavior occurs
•Refuse to train your dog how to be independent/alone by using a “Place” command, “Downstay, and/or “away” time in the crate
•Let your dog out of the crate when it whines or barks
•Avoid training or anything that makes your dog temporarily uncomfortable or unhappy—in other words, cater to your dog’s every desire/need, designing your life around your dog, rather than having your dog fit into yours
•And many, many more...

Basically, baby, soothe, allow, enable, disable, lean on, omit teaching necessary life skills, prioritize what feels good for you rather than what does good for your dog, and through this master plan of leadership-free chaos, and systematic cultivation of creating a toxic dependency between dog and human...you’ll ensure that when you leave, your dog will be a true emotional mess, because you haven’t prepared them to be calm, obedient, strong, resilient, robust, independent, and alone.

Planted these Maple trees specifically for shade for our guest dogs. They’re doing well as shade AND giving us fall beauty on top of that.

I met Sarah Randolph as a lovely client with her Golden named Brinkley in 2011. She was obviously a dog person with a heart for Genesee Animal Control where she continues to volunteer in the toughest of shelter environments. Now she’s an accomplished author and has written of her first hand experience as a shelter volunteer. I just finished her book “Run With Me” and encourage you to buy it. It’s received 5 star rating on Amazon. It’s reminded me of why!

We are so fortunate to have the remarkably effective Shiawassee Humane Society in our community. Serving to bring joy and resolution to homeless, lost and needy pets and adoptive families has been their mission for decades. The current leadership and staff are innovative and driven especially in light of the facility overflowing with stray and surrendered animals needing our help.

I am opening Heavenly Scent for boarding starting today,Oct 3 through Sunday, Oct 6 at 5 PM for dogs under 45 pounds and previous customers who have already had a meet and greet. I won’t have time to do a meet and greet to verify vaccines and behavior on new customers on short notice. Any takers? I’m here and OPEN.
