My next board and train spot will be open next month. I will have to do an evaluation for $100 to make sure it’s the right fit for you, your dog, and I. Becoming selective on clients is a must in this industry. ❤️ If we decide to work together, the evaluation is included in your board and train. Bullet is with me over the next 3ish weeks to learn more basics. He’s so smart already! He gets to live on a working cattle ranch with amazing parents. Can’t wait to take my time with this baby to see what confidence and commands come with his natural genetics and ability. He’s 6 months old, intact, and already has some obedience and boundaries in place. I love it when dogs are already a step ahead of the game. I can really get the max potential out in a realistic time frame!

I train dogs. House pups, dogs who have been in a pen their entire life, strays, run aways, chews through walls, constant anxiety, barking, jumps fences, and other mistakes.

But what I also have to train is humans. Humans who hug their dog when they jump on them but need the jumping resolved. Humans who argue with advice I give once the dog returns home. Such as “please don’t let your dog jump, just ask them to sit once the dog greets you! They are excited to see you! When it did what it was trained to do, that’s where the dog needs your loving. It did the correct thing. It didn’t jump. Praise it there. I typically get “well that’s just what we do together”. “What do you mean we can’t hug him and him not jump for hugs?”

Humans who demand a show level of obedience from a dog with a genetically pre engineered level of laziness/ no food drive/ toy drive … etc. Tend to have an unrealistic expectation.

Any great trainer in the world can find something the dog will work for… but it takes time and confidence building to find it.

Here’s the thing, within the first 30 mins of a training transfer, humans can’t comprehend the amount of information it takes to keep a dog properly worked, corrected, and stimulated. Their eyes glaze over and they are extremely overwhelmed with information and body language to help their dog succeed. It takes marking a behavior quickly and correcting a bad behavior quickly. This takes time for a trainer to explain and time on an owners part as well. I can’t be there every time the dog makes a mistake.
You have to become a dog trainer now too!

You cannot expect your dog to lay on a bed 24 hours a day. There is no magic reset button for this need other than sedation. There’s no magic reset period.

What I’ve found is humans want an easy fix or reset of the dog that’s had years of bad habits built and muscle memory to a rewarded bad behavior over time. They also do not want to be away from their dog for the amount of time it takes to correct the behaviors they pay me to correct. “We miss our baby, can it come home now?” When I ask for more time (without an extra cost). Cutting the time I need short.

I have had a ton of wonderful experiences with dogs and owners who are willing to do the homework at home and continue to do the work my foundation is built on. They listen, they follow through. Their dogs are doing fantastic right now. These are not the clients I am referencing. I love y’all, thank you!

The differences between those clients and clients who make excuses are clear. If the dog has already established boundaries in the home but owners are needing help on a few behaviors they can’t correct and need help with. These clients understand this is an animal that needs patience and time. As well as reinforcement.

The reason I am a dog trainer today…I needed help. I listened, I did my homework. I made a career out of it. Odin is proof that time and consistency of corrections and training make a wonderful dog. Training is NOT an over night success. He still needs corrections daily. He also gets a lot of love for doing things right!

Often times dogs are over loved in situations that don’t need rewarding. They don’t think like we do, they don’t have the emotional capacity we do. They are an animal. What they do deserve is leadership and follow through to get your respect from them. It’s how they think. It’s how they love! That’s how they truly bond. That’s why they follow a trainer around constantly because they absolutely love the mental stimulation and corrections when delivered properly. It creates an understanding between both worlds of communication, by leadership. You don’t have to dominate them, beat them, or starve them to get this result. You just have to have black and white communication and patience.

Humans have made the mistake of not demanding respect from their dog to get the same respect in return from their dog. It craves leadership and proper communication from us. That’s what they understand. Help them, help you. Don’t skip the homework and blame the trainer.

Let your trainer help you! If you need a break in information flooding to you, ask for a break. Ask questions, just ask! Schedule more time with your trainer for further instruction. We know it’s a lot of information. We taught it. We worked for it. To see it go to waste in the first 5 mins of being returned home is heartbreaking.

If you read this entire post, thank you. This career can be extremely tough. I needed to vent a little.
At the end of the day , we love your dogs. We want the best outcome possible for everyone. ❤️

I have changed my business model to only take one lucky board and train on a month. Would you like your dog to come to me? If so, let’s get started!

For any puppy or non feral dog adopted from the White Hall animal control, I will provide free training if they are adopted this week. There is an 8 week old puppy in there.

The hardest case of my career finally bonded up to me yesterday. Fear and extreme separation anxiety is her combo. Thankfully she’s highly intellegent and food motivated. She wants to work and be loved on but she also wanted to bite me when she ran to me screaming and barking. Glad we got over that hump.

In home lessons provide help with your pup in the safety of your own home. I travel to you! This pretty girl is starting next week. We will work on coming when called, sit, down, off, break, place, and walking on a loose leash. We also work on your pup holding each command until released. If you would like an off leash life with your dog we can work on that too! All we will need is some treats and a flat leash/collar. Positive reinforcement with leash corrections in a balanced training method is how we will achieve your goals. (Aggression cases are based on age and weight) If you would like more information please send me a text message to 870-489-1652 for faster response time. 4 lessons are included and usually take up to an hour to complete. $675 for the package.

Your dog will receive the highest quality of care, guaranteed!

I have a little bit of a rant if we can call it that. Often times I am asked to view my home in order for a dog to come and stay with me, from potential clients. No. You can not. This is where I live, my client’s dogs are staying, and where we all sleep at night. I can truly respect wanting to see where your dog will be staying. However, take it from a safety prospective. My face is online everywhere. It would be easy for John/Jane Doe to say “hey, let me tour your home before I spend my money with you and let my dog stay.” I will not take that risk. It is an industry standard for trainers to pick your dog up at your home. It is also a standard for them to bring them back to your home. Any trainer has a reputation whether good or bad. You’re welcome and encouraged to do your research. Ask for pictures of the home, other clients dogs, etc. Ask for references. Any reputable trainer will be happy to assist you. But in my opinion it is absolutely unacceptable to want to tour a home humans live in to make sure it is up to a dogs standards. Once you are a client and I trust you and you trust me, the entire ball game changes. Some clients have access to my home if they need to drop their dog off for boarding. They know Odin, my children, and lots of my clients feel like family to me. But they paid me, they established a relationship and trust with me, and I earned it. Thank you. That’s all I have to say.
