My bad weather riding policy.

As we enter tornado/storm season, I like to remind everyone of my cancellation policy. If we are under a tornado watch, lessons are cancelled. I play it by ear with severe storm watches. I use the weatherbug app on my phone.

Friendly reminder: I don't make the decision to cancel lessons lightly. Horses can be unpredictable, and when you add hail, wind, cold fronts, etc you are adding the extra "scary" factor. Safety for everyone is the biggest consideration for cancelling.

In the event of bad weather, the bathroom is the safest place in the barn. (photo from 2014)

Hello Riders and Family. Lynn Riddell here. The 2023 sponsorship forms are out for the show season. This year we have two types. We have the regular one with multiple levels. This is the same one as last year. We also have a new one. This is a one time sponsorship. This sponsorship is going to go towards purchasing a full size Dressage Arena for the outdoor arena. This will allow for us to host Dressage Shows, as well. Even if your rider currently does not show Dressage, everyone can participate in Dressage. I have included images of the descriptions of each sponsorship type. Please reach out to myself (Lynn Riddell) either through Facebook messenger or you may text me at 618-531-2305. If you provide me with your email, I can send you the sponsorship forms. I will also have printed versions at the barn that can be picked up during lessons. My target date to have sponsorships in is May 1st.

Hi everyone! My students have been texting me worried about the horses. Everyone is doing great. They all have their pajamas on, heated water buckets with fresh water, and plenty of delicious grain to eat. They are all snug in their stalls. I brought home buckets of grain for Bullseye so I can soak his food. All is well.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately due to the rising costs of everything in the horse world, I am raising my lesson prices from $40 to $50 per rider. I haven't raised my lesson prices since the end of 2019. New students have been brought in at the new rate already. The price increase will start January 1, 2023. Thank you all for your continued business and dedication to riding! -Michele

Hi all- if it's under 50 degrees outside, its gonna be colder in the barn. Normally the barn runs 10° colder than outside. Add wind chills and real feel, it gets cold quickly. So if we do have lessons in a cold night- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE dress your rider warm. Hoodies are not warm enough. Wear gloves, two pairs of socks, a coat! We can always shed a layer of they get too warm.

Effective immediately there will be no videos of any riding lessons that I teach posted on any social media platform. Everyone is on their own journey and creating their own path in the horse world. This is creating a lot of unnecessary drama and problems that I do not have time to deal with. If this continues to be a problem there will be no videoing lessons, which is a valuable tool for my students.

Congrats to Taylor, Autumn and Olivia!!

Five Thoroughbreds competed in classical and western dressage last weekend at Grand Paradise Ranch. The Thoroughbreds Helping Thoroughbreds high point champion was Starfello, ridden by Emma Pieper. Reserve was Just Like Fire, ridden by Taylor Overby. The high percentage award went to Prince, ridden by Laurie Baker. On Sunday in the hunters and jumpers, Taken By Shore was champion with Autumn Wolf and was reserve with Olivia Storey. Congratulations to all the competitors, and thank you to Grand Paradise Ranch for co-sponsoring the THT awards.
