***UPDATE***
We have found a foster for Delmar in SC with a family who adopted one of Delmar's sisters. If he gets along well with all of their dogs he will be able to stay there until he finds his forever home.

Our prodigal son Delmar has returned after trying to make it in the real world. Somewhat fortunately the outfitter who gave us Hank, Delmar's Dad, has decided that he already has too many hunting dogs and asked if we would take him back. We have and he is as sweet, cuddly, and excited to be here as ever, but unfortunately we already have as many (and maybe more) hound dogs than we can accomodate given our nomadic lifestyle.

Delmar might be traveling with us back to South Carolina, but might find a temporary home in NM until we return in January. If you or anyone you know is interested in providing a month foster home for him in NM or a forever home for him in SC (or along the way or somewhat nearby) please let us know!

He is 16 months old, 75 lbs, crate and house trained. He knows basic commands and can heel on leash if you are persistent. He is very enthusiastic about training with treats. He is not neutered yet. He gets along with other dogs. He was around cats until he was about 9 months old and was interested in them, but hasn't been around cats since then so not sure how we would do although I think with supervision he could learn to be good with cats.

He is a super sweet, very affectionate guy who is always just "happy to be here". He was only returned due to circumstances beyond his control - no behavioral problems on his part. Many of our students who spent the last 2 months with him love him dearly, but he is not cut out for college so he needs to find a non-dorm room home. We also love him dearly and want to make sure he finds a very good home. He will make a great family dog!

A lot of firsts for these boys the past week. Ricky Bobby had a vet trip and got to go to his first restaurant and both of the boys went into the Tractor Supply for the first time! Ricky Bobby was a little overwhelmed by all the options 😂.

Raylan did great on his first day out doing field work! He did pretty well with his "down-stay" commands and he really enjoyed navigating back to the truck backtrailing our scent. He really liked getting back to the air conditioning though.

Ricky Bobby did pretty well on his first day tagging along for fieldwork. The heat kept him pretty subdued, but his spirits remained high even after he threw up his breakfast shortly after we started the "off-road" portion of the drive. Next time he might skip breakfast before traveling on bumpy roads 😬. The last photo really captures his embarrassment over throwing up in the car on his first day 😂.

These hound brothers have graduated to their "big boy beds". Sometimes it takes a while for them to settle down at night, but they are doing a great job sleeping through the night in our room now. It did take a while to learn that they aren't allowed on our bed and Raylan still doesn't quite get it.
