Water is delivered to the dogs at the Freedom Animal Shelter in Egypt. The dogs had gone through a terrible time when temperatures of 113 degrees forced the government to enact planned black outs. The result was that water pumps would not work and the dogs had nothing to drink in the extreme heat. We have now bought water tanks for the shelter and barrels that can be regularly filled with drinking water. Now, when the power goes out, the dogs will still have plenty to drink. BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR NEEDS OUR HELP
This group of 18 cats live with an elderly woman in Venezuela who has recently undergone breast cancer treatment and also surgery on her knees. She is a person of modest resources. We're trying to raise the last $260 so our partners in Venezuela can carry out a spay & neuter campaign for all of these cats that she has lovingly rescued from homelessness and hunger. This weekend, we are holding our breath and hoping that people will help. We are short of funds to buy food for the dogs for the month of November.  we have just a couple of days left to come up with the funds.
There’s quite a chill in the air and the dogs are developing nice, thick winter coats at Sasha‘s Shelter in Serbia. Puppies and the elderly dogs stay at a separate location and sleep in a heated, indoor building. The other dogs at the main shelter also sleep indoors with straw bedding, but there is no central heating system. The straw bedding helps maintain the dogs’ body temperatures at night and the firewood is used to cook hot meals. Extra calories are provided during winter to help the dogs stay warmer.

Hungry Street Dogs Eat Breakfast in Serbia
STREET CAFE
Volunteer Ivica Milisavljevic makes his rounds feeding homeless animals each day before work. After losing some of his international supporters who fell off over the years due to health or financial problems, this Serbia volunteer has turned to Harmony Fund to feed the animals.
We are trying our very, very best to help him and all the others to provide meals for thousands of animals each day. Because we are carrying a bigger project load than the number of incoming donations, it appears that Ivica will have to skip feeding the dogs and cats two days this month. He's not alone. We're passing out all the donations that come through the door, but coming up short with about 90% of what we would normally provide to each rescue squad. And while 10% of a funding drop might not sound like a lot, it does lead to some hungry days.
We are trying to find solutions. We do have a special offer from one beautiful couple who have decided to offer match donations of up to $6,000 total this month. So, if anyone would like to donate to help, your gift will be doubled!

WATER FOR 750 DOGS AT FREE RUNNING SANCTUARY
The warm days will be leaving us soon, but before they do, we wanted to show you how much the dogs enjoy their water here at Sasha's free running dog sanctuary in Serbia. Isn't it breathtaking to see so many dogs in this pack living peacefully without languishing in kennels? Look at their emotional health. The dogs here are not desperate for attention, desperate to be free of their cages. They are calm, happy and never lonely.

Please know that every dog here is spayed/neutered and every effort is made to give them as comfortable of a life as possible until some of them can find adoptive homes. The dogs would all go hungry without us and we would be lost without you.
Imagine waking up each morning and knowing that you must feed 750 rescued dogs. It doesn't matter if you have the flu or if its pouring rain or their drinking water is freezing as fast as you can refill it. When you have rescued animals, there are no days off.

Hundreds of Dogs Follow the Leader
Imagine you open your eyes, and for the first time in a very long time, you're waking up without fear. You're in a comfortable nest of straw, inside of a secure building with the sounds of others beginning to rouse. It's morning here in Nis, Serbia, and for the 750 dogs at Sasha's free-running dog shelter, it's going to be a very good day.
For years, we've been doing our best to provide food here so that the dogs can remain here where they run and play outside all day. These dogs are so blessed to be rescued and to have full veterinary care, sterilization, shelter and love. Their favorite time of day and we're putting our shoulder against the wheel trying to gather enough food for next month.
