Just want all our clients to know that the clinic does not seem to have any damage from the storms. We do not have power, but all of the animals seem to be calm and ok. Our emergency generator is on so our phone system and security system are working. Hopefully the weather will calm soon and things will be back to normal tomorrow morning.

02/29/2024

We are changing our app and service reminders from Vitus Vet back to PetDesk effective April 1st. This way we can offer a loyalty program and more features.
Please make sure we have your correct email address on file so there is a smooth transition.
You can also download the PetDesk App for access to your pets' medical records and push notifications. If you currently have the PetDesk App you can add us as a provider.

We are pleased to announce we have a new Veterinarian joining our team in January.

Dr. Karleigh Shaffer is a graduate of Louisiana State University College of Veterinary medicine. A Hot Springs native, she completed her undergraduate degree at Southern Arkansas University where she met her husband. She has one son and many furry and scaled children as well.

Her professional interest includes exotic animal medicine, acupuncture, soft tissue surgery, and preventative health care. When not seeing patients, she enjoys spending time with her family, balancing an obsessive reading hobby with video games, tending her carnivorous plants, and playing DnD with friends.

Meet Scruffy

Scruffy is soft, scrumptious, and so sweet! Scruffy is most likely a labradoodle, is about 2-1/2 years old, and weighs 65 pounds. He is friendly and playful, likes other dogs, and enjoys chasing balls in the pen. He arrived at the shelter very fearful but he has made a remarkable transition!

Scruffy quickly mastered leash training and now enjoys every minute of his walks. Scruffy should continue to thrive with an adopter committed to training him to display good manners - he wants to please, is very smart, and learns quickly.

As animal lovers know, all dogs require a commitment of love and time. Labradoodles are no exception, but they also require frequent brushing and grooming to avoid matting, which will mean regular trips to a groomer. Scruffy came to us in horrible condition - we suspect he was probably never groomed. We promised Scruffy to find a family willing to make this care a priority and never let him get in that condition again.

If your room is yours to make Scruffy a part of your family Please visit hsvawl.org to complete an application. Thank you in advance to that wonderful person (or family) who wants to give Scruffy the care and attention that he needs (and deserves) to be a well-groomed, well-loved boy!
